UMass Football Comes to Gillette Stadium, Kraft Satisfied

Kraft believes there is little objection from Foxborough residents in bringing in events and generating revenue.

Robert Kraft, CEO of The Kraft Group, does not believe there is too much objection from Foxborough residents in regards to bringing in new events to Gillette and generating more revenue.

Kraft spoke those remarks in response to comments made at yesterday's press conference confirming that will be moving their football home games to Gillette Stadium in 2012.

Kraft, known for resurrecting the New England Patriot's Football team and venue, is satisfied with the decision in bringing college football to Gillette.

"It's fitting for the Minutemen to play in the venue that is synonymous with New England football," said Kraft in his press statement. "We've talked for many years about bringing top-level college football to Gillette Stadium, and with UMass elevating to the FBS, hosting its games here is a natural progression. We've worked closely with UMass on this partnership and will continue to do so to help grow the UMass football program and interest in college football in New England."

However, some Foxborough residents are not as thrilled with the decision to make Gillette the new college party playground.

"I thought we were trying to crack down on drinking in Foxborough?" said one Foxborough resident. "College age students tailgating is only going to make the problem worse."

The UMass Minutemen will play most of their home games at Gillette Stadium starting in 2012.
