The former Foxborough girls' junior varsity basketball coach, was hired Wednesday to replace , who left last month to head up the UMass-Lowell women's basketball team.
Downs, a skilled athlete, played basketball at UMass-Dartmouth, formally named Southeastern Massachusetts University.
