Foxborough High School students are getting ready for a fun-filled Saturday night out this weekend at their annual Homecoming dance.

While FHS students begin to dust off their dancing shoes, other high school students in the area are taking a chapter out of the popular movie "Footloose," a dance-rebellion story, and are telling school administrators, "this is our time."

Known as "grinding," this sexually charged dance style is causing an increase in the number of local dance cancellations, protests, and tensions between school administrators and students, the Boston Globe reports.

An increased number of schools in New England are banning the raunchy dance style, causing some students to boycott and protest school dances.

A New Hampshire high school recently canceled its homecoming dance after the chaperones failed in preventing a large number of students from grinding.

George Usevich, principal at Norwood High School, told the Boston Globe that Norwood's schools talk openly about the rules. However, Usevich also noted that "rules alone aren't enough...Chaperones have to enforce them."
