Harrington Named New Selectmen Chairman in Foxborough

Foxborough's Board of Selectmen re-organized at the Tuesday, May 10 meeting.

Selectman Lawrence Harrington now has a new title: Chairman of the Board of Selectmen of Foxborough.

Harrington was voted chairman by the board as part of its reorganization Tuesday night, May 10.

Selectmen Lorraine Brue was the lone vote against Harrington's nomination. Brue believes maintaining a high attendance percentage is critical to the Chairman position - a percentage she felt Harrington scored low in.

"I think attendance is critically important to the to work of this board and I understand your job takes you away - you have missed 11 meetings in the past 2 years, approaching 20 percent of the meetings," said Brue. "For the work of this board to be affective and continue on the right path, it would make more sense for Lynda Walsh to continue as Chairman."

Selectmen James DeVellis voted in favor of Harrington, stating that his budget expertise will be necessary come next year's budget talks.
