Foxborough Police Officer Receives Lifesaving Medal

Officer David Foscaldo is awarded with the prestigious medal, March 22.

Foxborough Police officer, David Foscaldo, was presented with the department's Life Saving Medal on Tuesday night, March 22.

Police chief, Edward O'Leary, presented Foscaldo with the medal for his herioic actions on February 12, when he witnessed a rollover crash and acted swiftly to help save a life.

According to O'Leary, the department's "Life Saving Medal" has been given only three times over the past 25 years .

O'Leary recalled the events that place on Febrary 12, that led to Foscaldo's act of heroism.

Foscaldo, who was off-duty at the time, witness a minivan rollover in Foxboro between the Sharon and Foxboro exits.

Without hesititation, Foscaldo, sprinted down into the embankment where the minivan ended up. After checking on the condition of the passengers, Foscaldo recalled hearing another name being called out.

Foscaldo discovered another passenger wrapped around a tree. He immediatly started chest compressions until paramedics arrived.

O'Leary, who was humbled by Foscaldo's actions, said that the "medal is rarely given out."
