Foxborough Cracks Down On Public Drinking

Police Chief Edward O'Leary submitted the liquor hearing request to the board after three alcohol infused incidents related to Waxy O'Connors Pub have occurred.

Since late December, three separate incidents involving individuals impaired by alcoholic beverages, point back to continued service at Waxy's.

In one incident, officers placed one intoxicated male into protective custody who is alleged to have been drinking at Waxy's.

On December 24, a female Norwood resident was arrested for "operating under the influence" (OUI) after officers discovered her vehicle blocking Beach Street. When officers asked the female where she was coming from, she responded "Waxy's."

The third incident occurred on February 6, 2011. A female was arrested for OUI after her vehicle was discovered in the middle of the intersection of Mechanic and Chestnut Streets. The female told officers that she had been heading home "after drinking at Waxy's."

After review of those incidents with Town Manager Kevin Pacios and Town Counsel, O'Leary believes a hearing is necessary.

According to Paicos, the liquor hearing is currently set for March 22 but there is a chance that date could be pushed back.
