Representative Barrows Participates in HESSCO Elder Services’ March for Meals

State Representative Jay Barrows helped to deliver "Meals on Wheels," Friday March 11 at the Rodman Room at Carl Annon Court as a part of HESSCO’s March for Meals events.

HESSCO Elder Services announced this March that it will be participating in the national 2011 March for Meals campaign.

 “We are so excited about our March for Meals campaign and Representative Barrow’s participation in this event” stated Jayne Davis, Nutrition Program Director in the press release.

HESSCO’s March for Meals events will include the delivery of meals by area elected officials, participation in the Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Flavors Gala along with various fundraising activities in the community, according to their press release.

HESSCO was able to provide 139,078 meals to 2,128 frail elders living in South Norfolk County last year.

March for Meals is a national campaign during the month of March, initiated and sponsored by the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA), to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of local communities. 

Meals On Wheels supporters should take MOWAA’s Pledge online at www.mowaa.org/pledge. By taking this pledge, you are refusing to tolerate senior hunger in the world’s richest nation.
