POLL: Should Foxborough Bet on a Resort Casino

Thursday night's planning board meeting saw hundreds of community residents turn out.

Resort casino development talks in Foxborough continued last night as hundreds of Foxborough residents and surrounding community residents packed into the Ahern Middle School for a meeting of the planning board.

The meeting saw strong opinions on both sides of the issues. Supporters of a possible proposal say that thousands of jobs will be created, while opponents believe that crime will in increase; traffic will get worse and the overall character of the town would be destroyed.

No vote was taken by the planning board just yet on zoning changes that would aid resort casino development, a 300-foot height limit for buildings in town.

In order for casino gambling to be allowed in Foxborough, changes would need to be first voted on by the board of selectmen and then the town.
