Myra Kraft to be Honored For Philanthropic Work Jan. 24

Myra Kraft, who died of cancer on July 20, will be honored Tuesday night, Jan. 24 at Gillette Stadium and Foxborough's town hall.

Myra Kraft, wife of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, will be honored in memory Tuesday night, Jan. 24 at Gillette Stadium and Foxborough's town hall, the Sun Chronicle reports. 

The "Evening to Honor Myra Hiatt Kraft" will honor the memory of Myra Kraft who died on July 20 after a courageous battle with cancer. She touched so many lives through her philanthropic work and lifetime commitment to giving back to those in need. Heavily involved in the NFL team's philanthropic efforts, she was president of the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and was named the “Most Powerful Women in Boston” by Boston Magazine in February of 2011. 

Mrs. Kraft was honored for her work as President of the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, based out of Foxborough. She dedicated her time to giving back to communities by directing funds from the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation to finance efforts such as after-school sports programs for children.

The primary mission of the foundation is to help the youth and families of New England through donations to a variety of programs.

According to the Sun Chronicle, Massachusetts Bagpipers joined by New York's Emerald Society Bagpiper Unit, will lead the WWII Memorial Committee and volunteer Mass. citizens around Gillette Stadium seven times starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Starting at 7 p.m., Foxboro piper Bruce Roberts Jr. will lead the Massachusetts pipers to assemble at Foxborough's town hall and enter the Andrew Gala Meeting Room with Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Thomas J. Hudner and other dignitaries. Myra Kraft will then be recognized as a "true patriot" in a presentation before selectman.

Space has been reserved at the Lafayette House on Route 1 to watch a live streaming of the selectmen's meeting in order to avoid overcrowding of the Andrew Gala Meeting room.

The New England Patriots dedicated the 2011 season in memory of Myra Kraft, wearing a patch on their uniforms with the initials "MHK".
