Foxborough Outage Update

Over 95 percent of Foxborough is back up with power.

Over 95 percent of Foxborough residents are waking up Saturday with power and National Grid liaison, Tom Coughlin, said crews are working around the clock to restore power to every resident. Coughlin noted that crews are not leaving town "until the job is done."

Over 80 percent of the town was left without electric power from Sunday, August 28 through August 30. As of 9:00 a.m. Saturday, over 95 percent of Foxborough is back up and running.

With the addition of over 7 National Grid Crews in town and 13 tree crews, as of 7:00 a.m. on Friday the number of customers still without power in Foxborough was slashed dramatically - Wednesday the town was at 20 percent and Saturday, Foxborough is over 95 percent restored, with 7 customers out of 7,820 without power.

Paicos noted that there are still a "few small isolated wires" spread throughout town. All residents should be up by Saturday.

2,214 National Grid customers in total in Massachusetts are waiting on electric power as of Saturday morning.

Although residents various opinions on whether the Patriots preseason game Thursday night at Gillette should have been postponed, Police Chief O'Leary assured visiting fans and Foxborough residents that the public's safety would not be put at risk.

"Its not fair to Foxborough residents to have a game in our backyard, and some cannot even watch it on TV," said one Foxborough resident.

Chief O'Leary said Wednesday that the town was ready to safely host the traffic and arrival of 55,000 football fans, even though the town is still recovering from Tropical Storm Irene. Selectmen, in an emergency meeting Wednesday afternoon, voted 5-0 to allow the game to go on.

Foxboro residents without power are urged to call 543-1204 or 508-612-0730 for assistance. Boy Scouts and other volunteers are available to help assist.

Foxborough is adding an extra Saturday trash (Spoiled Food Only) pickup. There will be no tickets needed and no recycling pickup.
