Earth Day Events Around Foxborough

Events and deals happening today in Foxborough to help celebrate Earth Day!

Today, April 22, is Earth Day. According to the Earth Day Network, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.

Whether you are looking to pollute less, use that recycling bin a bit more, or want to try your hand in gardening, here are a few local events to attend to celebrate the world today and every day!

1. Head over to Old Navy at Patriot Place to participate in a nationwide recycling programs. Starting now though May 21, bring your used flip-flops to Old Navy. Shoppers can deposit their used flip flops in colorful collection bins found inside any Old Navy store. TerraCycle will then recycle the flip-flops into playgrounds which will be donated to communities around the country.

2. "Picnic for the Planet" takes place today at noon in Boston Common. Get outside with your friends to celebrate Earth Day with this great event!

3. Garden in the Woods! Learn about your surroundings with this guided tour! Kids will enjoy scavenger hunts. Admission and parking are free. Event takes place at the Botanical Garden / Arboretum, 180 Hemenway Road, Framingham.

4. Starbucks is offering a free cup of hot coffee, ice coffee or tea today in honor of Earth Day. To redeem your free coffee take a reusable mug or tumbler to a participating Starbucks location.

5. Attend the Earth Day Variety Show at Patriot Place! Visit the special variety show located in the North Marketplace outside of ‘Life is good.’ The show includes audience involvement, juggling, balloon tricks and fun Earth Day facts!

6. Christmas Tree Shop at Patriot Place is offering a $6.99 "grow your own garden kit," complete with a steel bucket! Variety buckets include sunflowers, sweet peppers and basil!

7. Charming Charlie at Patriot Place is offering a free eco-tote with any purchase!
