Foxboro Never Forgets Dedication To Be Held Sept. 10

The Foxborough September 11th Memorial dedication will take place on September 10th at 5:30 p.m.

After over a year of planning, designing, delivering and putting on the finishing touches, the , Sept. 11 Memorial will hold it's official dedication ceremony on Sept. 10.

The dedication will take place at the Foxborough Public Safety Building on 8 Chestnut Street at 5:30 p.m, rain or shine. 

The Sept. 11 Memorial will not only be a place to reflect and remember, it will also be an educational experience, especially for those children that were not yet born or were too young at the time. The site will feature three granite tablets with bronze plaques that describe what happened on Sept. 11 in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. A piece of steel from the World Trade Center Artifacts Project will sit between two granite towers, representing the World Trade Center Towers.

In addition to the Sept. 11 Memorial, the cornerstone of Foxboro Never Forgets is to promote community service. Last year over 1,700 hours of community service was performed. Foxboro Never Forgets will be promoting a day of community service to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 on Sept. 10. The group is asking all non profits, school groups, church groups, and citizens to perform some kind of community service in remembrance of Sept. 11.

McGinty Family Fun Day will also be held on the Foxboro Common on Sept. 10. Two scholarships will be awarded this year in memory of Michael McGinty.
