'Holiday on Ice' Comes to Winter Skate at Patriot Place December 15

Award-winning skaters will dance to various holiday songs old and new Sunday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Winter Skate at Patriot Place presented by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, a popular outdoor ice skating venue, will host “Holiday on Ice” on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. Admission is a donation of $5 or a new or gently used coat, with proceeds benefiting Cradles to Crayons. 

“Holiday on Ice” will feature special guests Jade Esposito and Nathan Rensing, Alex Shaughnessy and Jimmy Morgan, Kyoko Yano, Taylor Rocco and Adrian Huertas and performances by figure skating clubs Pawtucket and Providence Figure Skating Club, The Skating Club of Boston, Colonial Figure Skating Club, Warwick Figure Skaters, Smithfield Figure Skating Club and Norfolk Frost Skating Club.

Esposito and Rensing, skating at the Juvenile Pairs level, won the silver medal earlier this month at the 2014 Eastern Sectionals Figure Skating Championship in Ashburn, Va. and have qualified for the 2014 U.S. National Figure Skating Championship in Boston next month. Their program, "Boston Strong," is dedicated to the spirit and courage of the people throughout the Greater Boston area.

Shaughnessy and Morgan became the 2012 Eastern Sectional Champions and won the bronze medal at the 2012 United States Figure Skating Championships at the Novice Pairs level. More recently, the pair won silver medals in the 2013 Eastern Sectional Junior Pairs and have moved up the ranks to Senior Pairs at the championship level. They are traveling to the 2014 Eastern Sectional Championships before competing at the 2014 United States Figure Skating Championships held in their hometown of Boston.

The pair has performed at many venues, including the Boston Frog Pond New Year’s Eve celebrations, and Ice Chips: Show of Champions, featuring national and international competitive skaters. They are currently the principal skaters in the Skating Club of Boston's Act I Theatre on Ice production of Cinderella's Coronation.

Yano has competed in Singles for 13 years, Pairs from 2003-2004, Synchro from 2000-2002 and Regionals since 2005. She currently coaches skating while still competing and has won numerous awards throughout her impressive career, including the Edi Scholden Award in 2002 and the Dudley Richards Award 2004.

Rocco, 17, is an honor roll senior at Simsbury High School and has been skating competitively for five years. She won the silver medal in the women’s 2012-13 Regional Novice competition.

Huertas, a junior at the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, trains as a singles skater with Jason Wong and Carrie Wall at the Skating Club of Boston and as an ice dancer with Laura Gayton and Collin Sullivan at the Babson Skating Center. Huertas began skating 10 years ago when a friend invited him to skate lessons and he has loved figure skating ever since. He has medaled in men’s singles at the New England Regional Figure Skating Championships for the past seven years, most recently as the Novice Men’s 2014 bronze medalist.

Winter Skate is located at Patriot Place, adjacent to Route 1, near the Renaissance Hotel & Spa.
