Johns: Foxborough Veterans Will Not Be Impacted by Easton’s Departure from District

Crossroads Veterans’ Services Director Michael Johns said the district will meet Tuesday, April 30th to discuss the future of the district with Easton’s expected departure in June.

On Monday, Easton officials announced the town will be leaving the four-town Crossroads Veterans’ Services District in June and plans to hire its own full-time veterans’ agent. Easton’s decision, according to Crossroads Veterans’ Services District Director Michael Johns, will have no impact on the other three towns – Foxborough, Norton and Mansfield - involved in the district. “Foxborough will continue to serve its veterans, war widows and dependents in a high quality manner, as the town has become used to over the last three years,” Johns said. “[Foxborough] will not be impacted by Easton's decision.” Johns said the Crossroads Veterans’ Services District Board will meet Tuesday, April 30th at 6:15 p.m. in Conference Room 3a/b of Mansfield…

Get Out and Buy Local This Saturday

The Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce's Buy Local Saturday will be held this weekend – June 23. The event is part of the Chamber's summer long Buy Local program.

Support area businesses this weekend by shopping – and buying – local. On Saturday, June 23 the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce will be holding its Buy Local Saturday event as part of its summer long Buy Local program.  "We’re encouraging shoppers to buy local and show it by taking a picture with the 2012 Tri-Town Chamber Member sticker and posting it on the Tri-Town Chamber Facebook Page,” said Kara Griffin, executive director for the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce. “The person with the most pictures posted on Facebook by 6 p.m. on Saturday will win a Chamber Buy Local gift certificate.” Jen Vondenbrink, Tri-Town social media specialist, says the response from area residents and businesses, including Foxborough, has been "great" over the past …

Tribe Looks at Taunton for Casino Site

According to published reports, the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe is looking at developing a casino in Taunton. Foxborough, Plainville and East Boston have also been mentioned as possible sites in Eastern Massachusetts.
