The Boston Red Sox legend’s annual winter hitting clinic will again be held at RBI Baseball Academy on Green Street from Feb. 20-22.
Nomar Garciaparra will be back in Foxborough next week to host his annual winter hitting clinic for young baseball players at RBI Baseball Academy on Green Street. “As always I’m excited to work with young players this winter at RBI,” Garciaparra said. “This clinic has been a part of my winter routine for the last 15 years. I’m looking forward to sharing my passion for hitting with young athletes that want to become better hitters and get an edge on their competition, I can’t wait to get started.” The three-day clinic begins on Wednesday, Feb. 20 – during Foxborough’s winter vacation – and ends on Friday, Feb. 22 at RBI Baseball Academy. The fundraiser for Foxboro Youth Baseball and Softball featured a 24-hour baseball game to raise money for the Booth complex.
In a sport that has a reputation of being a timeless game, there was one game in Foxborough that seemed to have no end. The Foxborough Youth Baseball and Softball Association held the first "Battle at the Booth" Friday and Saturday to raise money for the program. Starting officially Friday evening at 7 p.m., the action didn’t stop until about 24 hours later and after many innings of play. The association came up with the idea late last year during a meeting to decide how the organization could improve on fundraising. “We knew some of the other towns in the surrounding area have tried such a venture and we came up with this idea of a 24 hour baseball game,” Foxboro Director of Baseball Jeff Downs said, “Just trying to get the kids out …

(A press release from the Foxboro Youth Baseball and Softball Association) Sleep will be at a premium starting at 7 p.m/ on Friday, June 15, when 800 players of the Foxboro Youth Baseball and Softball Association (FYBSA) will have the opportunity to participate in Foxboro’s first-ever 24 hour marathon baseball game. The ‘Battle at the Booth’ event will raise money for new batting cages at Foxboro’s Booth Complex and other general field improvement for the league. Foxboro’s marathon game will continue straight through the night until Saturday, June 16 at 7:00 pm. With the Boston Red Sox getting ready for opening day and celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park, there is going to be a lot of opportunity to look back at the all-time greats to wear their uniform. The Red Sox are running a voting contest at bostonredsox.com, but we're jumping the gun here with an all-time team before the season even starts. The only rule on this team is that you have to have compiled the stats as a Red Sox player and other teams you played on doesn't factor in. Ladies and gentlemen, your all-time Red Sox team: Catcher-Carlton Fisk.
