New England's favorite country star has set up a fund with the Boston Medical Center to help purchase prosthetics for victims who lost limbs during the attacks on the Boston Marathon.
Over the years, country music star Kenny Chesney has adopted the Boston area, including Foxborough, as his second home. Kenny Chesney announced Thursday he will return to Gillette Stadium on Aug. 24, 2013, making a summer stop in Foxborough for the eighth time since 2006. Chesney has helped make the annual New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium the largest concert series in New England, selling out Gillette Stadium each year from 2006 to 2009, and then again for two nights each in 2011 and 2012. Foxborough Police reported over 500 incidents at this past weekend’s New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium.
Foxborough’s ninth annual New England Country Music Festival headlining Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw at Gillette Stadium brought over 100,000 people to the area this past weekend, which resulted in 500 police incidents. According to Foxborough Police reports, there were 101 criminal arrests made during the two-day concert festival and close to an additional 500 concertgoers were taken into protective custody, which is separate from an arrest. Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary said the majority of the arrests involved underage drinking. He added that there were some “traffic issues” during Friday’s show, which brought a crowd of 49,400 to Foxborough and yielded 61 arrests. Foxborough is expected to see over 100,000 country fans at Gillette Stadium this weekend as Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw wrap up their 2012 “Brothers of the Sun” Tour. Concerts will be held Friday and Saturday, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Kenny Chesney and his band put on a stellar performance Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26 and 27 in Foxboro, the final stop on his 2011 “Goin’ Coastal Tour.” After the first concert was rescheduled from Sunday night to Friday due to hurricane alerts, Chesney promised his fans and Country Fest enthusiasts, who filled the stands of Gillette stadium, that it would be well worth their while—and that it was! Foxborough Police Chief says the town is ready for the Goin' Coastal Tour to arrive.
Foxborough Police Chief, Edward O'Leary, presented town selectmen this Tuesday, April 12, with the final safety plan for the Kenny Chesney & Zac Brown Band concert this upcoming summer. Traditionally, this summer concert has been a one-day music event, however this year it will be split up into a two-day music festival making O'Leary particularly concerned about the safety and security costs. "We spent a lot of time on strategy," said O'Leary. "In learning from the past, we decided to shake it up and are going to try better to move people along."
