Foxborough Lacrosse Falls to Needham

The Rockets beat the Foxborough Warriors, 11-6.

On Monday, Needham celebrated Seniors Night with an important non-conference victory, as the Rockets beat the Foxborough Warriors, 11-6. “For those guys, they’re seeing the [light at the end of the tunnel],” Needham head coach Dave Wainwright said after his team's 13th win. “That’s the best way to describe it.” Needham’s senior class was honored prior to the start of the game, as parents, friends and peers took a moment to reflect upon their achievements over the past four years. “It’s definitely emotional for [all the seniors],” Needham’s Mark Riley said. “[It’s] their last home game being played [at Memorial Field], but for them it’s definitely a good way to go out [with] a nice win.” The Rockets began the first quarter firing multiple …

Foxborough Lacrosse Cruises Past Canton, Seniors Honored

The Foxborough Warriors celebrate Senior Day and their win over Canton.

On a very special senior day that saw the honoring of 13 seniors, the Warriors displayed a textbook game of lacrosse. Playing a defensively sound game with a crushing offense, the Warriors cruised to an 11-2 win over the Canton Bulldogs. In the spirit of senior day, the Foxboro seniors easily took control of the game. Deadlocked at 1 midway though the 1st quarter, Billy Roberts broke the tie with a shot right on net to give the Warriors an early lead. That early lead would soon grow. James Stather scored from the left off of an assist from Connor Whalen. Tom Theos also scored to make it 4-1 Foxborough at the end of the 1st half. James Stather starting things off in the 2nd quarter with a goal that saw him juke and jive though the Bulldogs…

Foxborough Boys' Lacrosse Continues Strong Play

Foxborough boys lacrosse comes out strong against North Attleboro.

Looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season against Framingham, Warriors coach Matt Noone had one request of his team: Come out strong. “I asked the boys to come out and play hard at the beginning,” said Coach Noone. Not only did the Warriors come out and play hard at the beginning, they played hard the entire game in an 18-3 blowout of the North Attleboro Red Rocketeers. All season long, Coach Noone has been emphasizing the importance of controlling the possession game. If there was one game that was a textbook example of what Coach Noon was looking for, this was it. Not letting the Red Rocketeers get many touches in the 1st half, the Warriors quickly put goal after goal up on the scoreboard. “It was good,” said Noone. “…

Foxborough Lacrosse Defeats Rival Mansfield

Foxborough's James Stather led the way with 5 goals in a 9-6 win over Mansfield.

Foxborough showed how dangerous their depth can be today. Going into today’s game, Mansfield thought that shutting down Connor Whalen and Billy Roberts would be the key to victory. It was instead James Stather who led the way with 5 goals in a 9-6 win over Mansfield. “James Stather today stepped up today. Any day it could be someone different on the attack. Today it was James’ turn,“ said Warriors coach Matt Noone. In a game where the neither team could get beyond a 1 goal lead for most of the game. Stather was a one man show on offense for the Warriors. Down late in the 1st 1-0, Stather scored the first of his 5 goals off a bounce pass from the left side of the goal to tie the game up at 1. Two minutes later Stather would strike again. …

Foxborough Lacrosse Wins Big Over Milford

Foxborough girls' lacrosse beat the Hawks, 15-11.

The MIAA tournament won’t begin until the end of May, but against a talented and well-respected Milford High School team, Foxborough High School’s girls lacrosse squad played against a potential foe that they certainly could meet in the postseason. Although, while the playoffs aren’t on the players or coaches minds just yet, the Warriors appeared rather composed and focused Friday, as they tallied seven second half goals to beat the Hawks, 15-11.  “We just knew being down two going into the half, we had to come out strong, so we did. We held them to one goal, which is awesome. Defense was huge for us today, they had more than one shot on net and they only had goal,” said Foxborough head coach Jess Cercone. Indeed, the Hawks had more than …

Foxborough Girls Dominate in Lacrosse

Foxborough win 20-3 over the Bellingham Blackhawks.

Dominance. That is the only word that can describe what happened.  Nine days ago, Foxborough delivered a 26-12 win against Bellingham. It would once again be a dominate day for the Warriors with a 20-3 win over the Bellingham Blackhawks. The scoring started early and fast for Foxborough. Center Ellen Decker opened the game with a goal 23 seconds into the game with the assist from Left Defensive Winger Katie Notarangelo. This was followed up by another goal from Left Attack Winger Abby Tepper with Decker getting the assist. Foxborough played with a simple strategy of cutting in front of the goal and taking the shot. No matter what Bellingham did, Foxborough found ways to the net. Whether it was rushing in and taking the shot or passing the …

Foxborough Lacrosse Pulls Out Win Over Norwood, 7-4

Foxborough brushes off 2 tough quarters to pull off a second half come back to beat Norwood.

It was an unfamiliar site against Norwood. Foxborough lacrosse losing? Based on what happened in the first half, it didn’t look good for the Warriors. For as tough as the first 2 quarters were, the Warriors would brush them off to pull of a second half come back to beat the Norwood Mustangs 7-4. It started as a normal game for the Warriors. Goals from Billy Roberts and Alex Pacitti gave the Warriors a quick 2-0 lead. Despite the quick lead, the Warriors looked sluggish and slow.  Norwood controlled the  pace of the first half, becoming the first team of the season to look superior over Foxborough for an extended period of time. Norwood would begin to dominate in the second quarter. Mike Murray would put the Mustangs on the board to make it…
