Foxborough to Hold Moment of Silence Monday for Marathon Victims

Quiet reflection at 2:50 p.m. Monday will include ringing of church bells and silent observation by Foxborough police and fire personnel at the Foxboro Never Forgets 9/11 Memorial in front of the town’s public safety building.

Foxborough will join the city of Boston and other communities throughout Massachusetts Monday in a moment of silence at 2:50 p.m. – the time two bombs went off on Boylston Street near the finish line of the 117th annual Boston Marathon exactly one week ago. “I am simply asking our residents to stop at 2:50 p.m. on Monday for one minute to reflect quietly regardless of where they are,” said Foxborough Board of Selectmen chair James DeVellis.  The minute of silence at 2:50 p.m. will honor the victims and families of those injured and killed by the terrorist attacks. Following the moment of silence, bells throughout Boston and the state, including Foxborough, will ring, according to a statement from Boston Mayor Tom Menino’s office. “In …

Former Foxborough resident Cindy McGinty and Foxboro Never Forgets founder Chris Mitchell encourage everyone to a good deed today in honor of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

During Saturday’s McGinty Family Fun Day on Foxboro Common, Cindy McGinty and Foxboro Never Forgets founder Chris Mitchell asked the crowd in attendance to remember those who died during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 by doing a good deed for somebody in the name of a victim. “I think it is really important to do something in [a victim’s name] and if you don’t [know a name], do it in Mike’s name and help keep that day alive … help keep what happened in the immediate minutes after those terrible things on 9/11 that America really did come together,” said McGinty, a former Foxborough resident. Cindy McGinty’s husband, Mike, was killed during the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11. He was a Foxborough resident at the time and just 42 …

Hundreds gathered on Foxboro Common Saturday, Sept. 8 to remember and celebrate the life of Mike McGinty, a Foxborough resident who was killed during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

It's been 11 years this Tuesday since Foxborough resident Mike McGinty was tragically taken from his family and community during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Since that tragic day, however, McGinty's memory has lived on in community spirit, pride and volunteerism, highlighted by the event, McGinty Family Fun Day, which was held this past Saturday on Foxboro Common. And with the sun shining brightly on a day that many meterologists said would rain, McGinty's wife, Cindy, knew her husband had something to do with the favorable change in forecast. "I asked how we got this great [weather Saturday] and [Cindy] said, ‘this is Mike ... he did this for sure,’" said Fox 25 news anchor Maria Stephanos, a Foxborough resident and guest speaker at …

The 9-11 Memorial in Foxborough took a big step towards completion as the granite towers were delivered and put in place.

Over 6,000 pounds of granite and 6,000 thanks you. Those are the numbers and words that were repeatedly spoken Wednesday as the granite towers for the September 11 Memorial in Foxborough were delivered. Chris Mitchell, organizer of Foxboro Never Forgets, along with friends, family, community members, Foxboro Safety officials, and Selectmen Lynda Walsh and Mark Sullivan, stood in excitement on the grounds of the Foxborough Public Safety building, as a crane, donated by Tree Tech, carefully lifted down the granite memorial towers onto their new home in Foxborough. "This memorial was all built by volunteers, which is awesome" said Mitchell. Sullivan of All Phase Concrete Inc, stopped by the project Wednesday to view the new progress. Mitchell…

A moving presentation from Mr Mitchell for all who were there. We are a very lucky Town to have such a dedicated individual who believes so deeply in this project. Let's all help him raise the last $30,000. for the project. After listening to his passion yesterday, I know a donation as $5.00 will be greatly appreciated.
