The Hockomock Area YMCA will be offering Stewards of Children child protection trainings on Thursday, Jan. 24th and Thursday, Feb. 7th at the Foxborough Public Safety Building on 8 Chestnut St. The trainings will begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m. Stewards of Children is the only evidenced based child sexual prevention training proven effective in educating adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. These trainings are offered free of charge by the Hockomock Area YMCA. Registration however, is required 24 hours in advance of each training as space is limited. The Hockomock YMCA brings the Issue of sexual abuse from darkness to light.
The Hockomock Area YMCA is helping to break the ice on a topic that is not always easy to talk about - childhood sexual abuse. The Y is participating in a national program to raise awareness in its five member communities, including Foxborough, about the issue of childhood sexual abuse. Tony Calcia, Vice President for child protection and social responsibility at the YMCA, presented Foxborough selectmen, June 14, the Y's plan for raising awareness on childhood sexual abuse through the Darkness to Light "Stewards of Children program."
