Former Foxborough School Superintendent Offered Norton Interim Position

The next step for Chris Martes is contract negotiations with Norton.

  Former Foxborough School Superintendent Dr. Christopher Martes has been chosen as the interim superintendent for Norton Public Schools. “I think the field of candidates was excellent,” said Committee member Beth McManus. “To me Martes rises to the top.” Martes retired last year as superintendent for Foxborough Public Schools. Previously he was superintendent in Framingham for four years until 2007, when he was hired in his hometown of Foxborough. Martes started as a fifth grade teacher in Foxborough. One strength that stood out to Norton school committee members is that he spent three years in a building project similar to Norton High School’s. “Martes has political skills that would serve Norton well,” said committee member Deniz Savas…

Foxborough Recognizes Retiring School Employees

Foxborough School Committee honors 8 retiring school employees.

Monday’s School Committee meeting took a trip down memory lane as the committee recognized eight retiring Foxborough school employees for their years of service in the school district. Bruce Gardner, School Committee chair, presented the eight retirees with a gift of their appreciation and thanked them for their dedication to the children and families of Foxborough.  Foxborough Retirees:  Gardner saved the last retiree recognition for the end of the meeting. The school committee gave a special thanks to Superintendent Dr. Christopher Martes, who is also retiring this year. Martes received a bag full of gifts, including Warrior sweatpants, sweatshirt, visor and the most appropriate retiring gift - Warrior golf balls.  "Its been a great …
