Foxborough Board of Health Issues 'Whooping Cough' Advisory

Foxborough's Board of Health shared the advisory from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Division of Epidemiology and Immunization, which states there has been an increase in the number of cases of whooping cough in the state.

A Pertussis Advisory issued by the Foxborough Board of Health states there has been an increase in the number of cases of whooping cough statewide. There are currently no recommendations for antibiotics among classmates or other students in schools but parents and guardians should be aware of the signs and symptoms of pertussis (whooping cough), according to the advisory. "If your child has symptoms or develops symptoms, testing is recommended and five days of antibiotic treatment will be required before being able to return to school," the advisory states.
