Town Election: Selectman Walsh Pulls Papers for Reelection; Another School Committee Candidate Emerges

More candidates emerge for Board of Selectmen and School Committee positions. Foxborough’s annual town election is scheduled for May 6.

Foxborough selectman Lynda Walsh has pulled nomination papers for reelection, according to the Town Clerk’s office. Walsh, who will be completing her second term in the spring, is currently the longest tenured board member. She told Foxborough Patch last month that while she planned to run for reelection she would not make a final decision until she consulted with friends and family. Her decision became official on Feb. 5 when she pulled nomination papers from the Town Clerk’s office. Walsh joins Foxborough residents Richard Letson and John Gray Jr. as potential candidates for two seats on the town’s executive board. Town Election: Potential Candidates for Foxborough Selectmen, School Committee Pull Papers

Nomination papers have been pulled for seven town positions, including Board of Selectmen and School Committee. Foxborough’s annual town election is scheduled for May 6.

With the first week to pull nomination papers in the books, 11 Foxborough residents have expressed interest in running for seven of the 14 open town positions in May’s annual election. Most notably, two potential candidates for the two Board of Selectmen seats have emerged and neither one – to this point – are current members James DeVellis or Lynda Walsh. Richard R. Letson of East Street and John R. Gray Jr. of North High Street each pulled papers for selectmen seats last week. Letson pulled papers for the 2012 Foxborough selectmen race but decided not to run after he was unable to gain support of veterans for his candidacy, according to a March 2012 article in The Sun Chronicle.
