VIDEO: Foxborough Girls’ Basketball Closes Out Hopkinton in Fourth Quarter to Win Warrior Classic

The Foxborough High School girls' basketball team defeated a talented Hopkinton squad, 48-41 to capture the Warrior Winter Classic championship. Next up: The MIAA State Tournament.

The Foxborough High School girls’ basketball team proved Tuesday it’s ready for the postseason after a 48-41 win over Hopkinton in the Warrior Winter Classic championship game. “[We] showed [we] could maintain composure going into the fourth quarter when [we] were down to a great Hopkinton team and [we] really stepped it up so I am really proud of [the team],” said Foxborough head coach Lisa Downs. Defense ruled the first quarter as both teams struggled to gain any offensive momentum in the opening eight minutes. Foxborough managed to gain a 10-7 lead on Hopkinton by quarter’s end but Hopkinton chipped away at deficit in the second and trailed the Warriors by just one (19-18) at halftime. PHOTOS: Foxborough Girls' Basketball Beats Lunenburg by 48 Points Monday

Foxborough will host Hopkinton in the Warrior Classic championship game Tuesday after steamrolling Lunenburg, 85-37 Monday night.

The Foxborough High School girls’ basketball team is back in the Warrior Classic Championship game after cruising to an 85-37 win over Lunenburg Monday night. After leading 19-13 after the first quarter, the Warriors (14-5) rose to another level in the second, outscoring the Knights, 29-5 in the quarter to build a 48-18 halftime lead. Foxborough continued to apply the pressure in the second half – mainly with its second unit – scoring 20 points in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth enroute to the 48-point victory. The win puts Foxborough in the championship game of the Warrior Classic for the second consecutive season. The Warriors fell to visiting Hopkinton, 70-44 in the last year’s final and will get another shot at the Hillers …

PHOTOS: Last-Second Goals Sink Foxborough Boys' Soccer Wednesday

The Foxborough High School boys' soccer team lost to Hockomock League foe Attleboro, 2-0, Wednesday at Booth Field.

Attleboro found the back of the net in the closing seconds of the first half and in the final second of the second half to blank Foxborough, 2-0 Wednesday in a Hockomock League match. Attleboro's Noah Phelps (first half) and Zach Rodrigues (second half) were Wednesday's goal scorers. Foxborough falls to 0-2-1 in the Hockomock while Attleboro improves to 2-1.
