In recognition of Veterans Day, CVS Caremark paid homage to nearly 50 disabled military veterans from across New England, including Foxborough resident Andres Burgos, by treating them to a football skills camp at Gillette Stadium in partnership with the New England Patriots. The CVS Caremark/New England Patriots Veterans Skills Camp paired Patriots Super Bowl champions with veterans from Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire for a day of fun and skills training at Gillette Stadium. The special camp, created by CVS Caremark and the Patriots, kicked off in true Patriots style – with veterans experiencing the thrill of taking the field through an oversized Patriots helmet. Foxborough's Veterans Day Program will take place at Foxborough High School on Friday Nov. 11 at 11:00 AM. The Veterans Day event will feature Foxborough Town Manager Kevin Paicos as the main speaker, the Serenading Seniors, awards and more. The Doolittle will provide refreshments after the event. On Nov. 12 at 9:00 AM the Legion will be making up the "Boxes for our Troops." The Legion is still in need of diposable razors, toothbrushes, baby wipes, sports magazines and non-perishable foods (beef jerkey, instant soups, instant coffee, instant oatmeal, breakfast bars, etc.) Drop off any donations at the Legion Lounge from noon to 8:00 PM. Governor Deval Patrick declared November 2011 as “Hire a Veteran Month.” In addition to declaring November 2011 as "Hire a Veteran Month," Governor Patrick also announced new initiatives and resources to support the hiring of Massachusetts veterans, while increasing access to health care, transportation, education and housing services. “Massachusetts is proud to support our veterans, and these new initiatives will increase access to jobs and critical services,” said Governor Patrick in his press release. “By partnering with the business community, we can encourage and increase the hiring of more Massachusetts veterans, including those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.” Governor Patrick also launched an Interagency Task Force on Hiring …
