Survey: First Dates On the Rise for Valentine's Day

Would you go on a first date on Valentine's Day? If so, would you pay for the date?

Needless to say, Valentine's Day is a popular holiday for couples everywhere. The day offers a chance for couples to take a breather from the daily grind and head out for a romantic evening, or, alternatively, enjoy a romantic evening at home. But what about those who aren't in a committed relationship? As it turns out, a recent singles study indicates that first dates on or around Feb. 14 are actually on the rise.  In fact, more than 2,400 Boston men are going as far as paying women for a first date on Valentine's Day, according to the study, conducted by dating-auction website WhatsYourPrice.com. I went on a first date this valentines day. It went surprisingly well and I didn't feel much pressure once we started talking. We went to a sports bar. I picked The place. We ended up being the last ones to leave! We had great conversation and he brought me flowers and paid for dinner. Needless to say we are seeing eachother again sometime this week. :)   more ›

Local Day Care Children Craft Handmade Valentine's Day Cards For Seniors

The children at Butterfly Landing Family Child Care in Foxborough have been busy making Valentine's Day greeting cards for local seniors.  With help from child care provider Laura Feeney, the children who attend her program aging from 13 months through 3.5, made hand-crafted “valentines” for distribution to seniors at the Foxborough Senior Center, as well as those who receive lunch through the Rodman center and Meals on Wheels programs. Residents are asked to wear red on Friday, Feb. 8 for the "Healthy Hearts" Family Valentine Dance from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Hockomock Area YMCA invites area residents to wear red on Friday, Feb. 8 for the ‘Healthy Hearts’ Family Valentine Dance on Friday, Feb. 8th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Y's Bernon Family Branch (45 Forge Hill Rd., Franklin) and Invensys Foxboro Branch (67 Mechanic St., Foxborough) and 6-8 p.m. at the Y's North Attleboro Branch (300 Elmwood St., North Attleboro).  This free event guarantees a good time for all with a DJ and lots of dancing, including 20 minute intervals of line dances for teens and follow-the-leader songs for preschoolers. Valentine's Day Treat: Chocolate Ganache Truffles

Want to make your valentine an easy but delicious gift? Learn how to make chocolate ganache truffles using this recipe.

Here is a recipe that will send your valentine straight into your arms! Who doesn't love a box of chocolates? This recipe is not only easy but can modified to suit your chocolate needs! Ingredients: -12 ounces of Ghiradelli chocolate or chocolate chips of your choice -Heavy Cream -Any toppings and extracts of your choice (I used almond extract and finely chopped hazlenut, red and pink sugar powder, white chocolate, and cinnamon hearts as my ganache toppings. ) Directions: 1.) Heat 1/4 cup of heavy cream in a double broiler. Add chocolate chips and stir until the mixture is melted. 2.) Stir in any extracts now if you like.  I used almond extract for my chocolate. 3.)
