Veterans and active military are invited to enjoy a free visit to the Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon over Veterans Day weekend in Foxborough. From Saturday, Nov. 10 through Monday, Nov. 12, The Hall will offer free admission to all veterans and active service men and women. On Monday, Nov. 12, veterans and active military can complement a trip to The Hall with a visit to CBS Scene Restaurant & Bar, which will offer a complimentary special off the lunch menu with a military ID. Troy Brown became the 19th member of the Patriots Hall of Fame Saturday - celebrating with friends, family, former teammates and thousands of fans.
Troy Brown worked hard and took advantage of every opportunity he was given in the National Football League during his 15-year career. The result was three Super Bowl championships and franchise records in receiving and special teams and defining the “Patriot Way.” On Saturday, Brown was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in front of thousands of fans outside the Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon. The ceremony began with an introduction of Patriots alumni from the 1960s, 70s and 80s before several of Brown’s former teammates from the 90s and three Super Bowl teams were introduced. More than 200 cyclists, including injured veterans and their supporters, will set off Monday, Sept. 10 on the inaugural Ride 2 Recovery Minuteman Challenge presented by UnitedHealthcare. On this six-day, 325-mile ride from Quincy, Mass. to New York City, they will ride road bikes, hand cycles, recumbents and tandems – many of which have been modified to accommodate injuries. Cyclists will ride into Patriot Place for a USO lunch and a tour of The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon. The Hall at Patriot Place, presented by Raytheon, will host a “Train Like an Astronaut” fitness program for kids featuring NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy on Thursday, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local physical education teachers will run the NASA program, which includes activities like an agility course, a space food and energy station and a hydration station. The program will also include an appearance by NASA Commander Chris Cassidy, a Salem, Mass. native who has logged more than 375 hours in space. "This is the greatest moment of my life," said a very emotional Jon Morris during his Patriots Hall of Fame induction speech Saturday outside the Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon. Drew Bledsoe, also inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame Saturday, mirrored that sentiment, choking up with tears several times during his speech as the droves of fans who showed up shouted, "we love you Drew." Bledsoe was the first overall selection in the 1993 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He played with the team from 1993-2001 and led them to Super Bowl XXXI, a game that they lost to the Green Bay Packers. Drew Bledsoe and Jon Morris are the Patriots 2011 Hall of Fame inductees. Both will be honored in a ceremony outside The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. The event, which takes place the day before the Patriots 2011 regular season home opener versus the San Diego Chargers, is free and open to the public. Since opening in September 2008, The Hall has offered free admission to military personnel each Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day.
