Foxborough looks to make a strong finish as the 2010-2011 winter sports season concludes.
Foxborough's winter 2010-2011 sports season is nearing the end. Here is a look at one of the last weeks in regular season competition for the Warriors. Tuesday, February 8 Foxborough basketball will be on tap for Tuesday night as the Warriors’ boys will be hosting the Sharon Eagles and the girls will be going across the town border to play Sharon. The freshmen games will start at 3:30 p.m., followed by the JVs at 4:45 p.m. and the varsity at 6:30p.m. The Foxborough ice hockey team will be at Minuteman for an 8 p.m. game. In case you missed it, here's a rundown on just a couple of stories that ran on Foxborough Patch last week.
The week kicked off at the school committee meeting. At the meeting, Superintendent Christopher Martes, announced that Staff Development Day was canceled due to the constant stream of snowstorms. A new program of studies for the High School was also announced at the committee meeting. The school is looking to make changes in its course offerings to help better prepare students for college. The town selectman meeting mainly focused on Michael Intoccia, who according to town records, owed $23,159.11 in taxes that “had been delinquent for over a year.” Intoccia's lawyer, Robert Shelmerdine, was present at the meeting and confirmed that payment for interest fees, penalties, and taxes were paid in full prior to the start of the meeting. Warrior boys' basketball team to host Hornets at 6:30 p.m.
The Foxborough High girls' basketball team will be looking to knock off unbeaten Mansfield Tuesday night in Mansfield in a 6:30 p.m. Hockomock League cross-over game. At the same time, the Warrior boys' basketball team is going to be host a very strong Mansfield club. The giris' freshman game will be at 3:30 p.m. at Mansfield, followed by the junior varsity, while the boys' freshman game will be at Foxborough at 3:30 p.m., followed by the JV game.

Another consideration is to eliminate the Winter and Spring vacations times for 2011/2012 which then the Schools could close the end of May or early June for the Summer. Also when the Schools are closed because of snow like everyone else the Teachers have to show up and the Teachers educatiional time can take place instead giving the students a short day of learning.
