Two-day storm buried Foxborough in over 20 inches of snow.
The two-day storm that lasted well into Friday sure left quite an impression in Foxborough - slamming the town with over 20 inches of snow. It’s been a year of challenging weather for Foxborough Schools Superintendent Debra Spinelli and the town.
When Foxborough Schools Superintendent announced schools would be closed Friday due to snow, she – or anyone else for that matter – had no idea the town would receive the highest snowfall total in the state by storm’s end. With more than two feet of snow on the ground by 5:50 p.m. Friday, Spinelli knew she had made the right decision. “Trying to anticipate what this storm would deliver - and when - was very difficult, for superintendents and even meteorologists,” Spinelli said. “While I am never happy to cancel school, given that it [was still] snowing [Friday afternoon] I knew it was the right decision.” Friday’s cancellation marks the fifth time in the 2012-13 academic year Foxborough Public Schools were closed due to weather-related …

Did the wrath of this two-day storm surprise you?
Did anyone see this coming? The slow moving, two-day storm was originally expected to drop just 3 to 5 inches of snow in the Foxborough area but an updated forecast Thursday morning showed accumulation could total closer to 6 to 7 inches. As of Thursday night, that forecast was increased to 10 to 14 inches before the storm's conclusion Friday. Didn't happen that way. Meteorologists were left scrambling to update weather maps and snowfall totals while the snow continued to pile up in Foxborough. The Gem of Norfolk County was once again smack dab in the middle of a storm. Despite an initial forecast of 3-5 inches of snow, Foxborough may get a little more than expected.
Originally thought to be a relatively small storm that would drop between 3 to 5 inches of snow in Foxborough, a new forecast from WHDH shows the town getting closer to six or more inches through Friday in the area. In addition, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Norfolk County until 1 p.m. Friday. The warning claims the potential for anywhere from 4-8 inches of snow in the area, with a low probability of 10 inches in some isolated areas. According to the warning, the heaviest accumulations are expected tonight into Friday morning but some accumulations will occur today, especially across the elevated interior areas of southeast Massachusetts. Winds are expected to hit 15 to 25mph, with gusts up to 45mph. …
