Foxborough Schools Superintendent Debra Spinelli said she will wait until early Friday morning to make a decision on whether or not to close Foxborough Public Schools due to snow in the area.

An ocean storm has brought more snow than originally expected in Foxborough Thursday, causing for a frustrating and messy morning commute throughout the area. Foxborough schools, however, were able to open without delay and remained in session without an early release, according to Superintendent of Schools Debra Spinelli. “We were able to open on time because the accumulation was not significant in the very early morning hours,” Spinelli said. “We get regular weather forecast updates from the National Weather Service for our area, but this storm is very changeable and to some …

Foxborough Board of Selectmen chair James DeVellis took time Monday to thank the town’s DPW for their efforts during and after Blizzard 2013 and asks residents to show respect for these employees.
As 29 inches of snow fell on Foxborough over the weekend, it was the exhaustive efforts of the town’s DPW workers that helped minimize problems during the Blizzard of 2013. For those efforts, Foxborough’s Board of Selectmen chair James DeVellis took time Monday to publicly thank the DPW for all they did during the storm and all they continue to do in its aftermath to return Foxborough to normalcy. “I am proud for Foxborough of the hard work and diligence that our DPW and emergency personnel showed all through the storm and thank their families as they gave first priority to our town,” DeVellis said. DeVellis, who met with the DPW early Monday morning, said the crews “are very tired but upbeat” to finish work that began Friday morning and …

After a weekend full of snow and shoveling, it's time to relax and enjoy the warmth of these great soups.
The Blizzard of 2013 slammed Foxborough with over 24 inches of snow this weekend and a whole lot of shoveling for residents. Now that the town has dug itself out it's time to relax and enjoy the day. For me, the best remedy for snowy, cold weather is right in my recipe repertoire: soup. Nothing satisfies the soul like a bowl of steaming homemade soup. Easy to prepare in advance, this simple one-pot meal is complete as is, or garnished with a light green salad and crusty bread. Better still, soup seems to develop rich layers of flavor the longer it sits — so you can make it on the weekend, and continue to enjoy it throughout the week. The following three tried-and-true soup recipes are go-to staples my family enjoys. Yours will too! 8 …

You tell us, are you soaking in these spring-like temperatures or hoping to see snow in the forecast?
Let's face it - it's been a few years since a snowstorm has truly walloped the area, despite several inches in a recent storm. On top of that, the National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect high temperatures to stay in the mid-40s for the rest of the week and the New England Patriots may end up playing their rematch with the Houston Texans in sunny, 50-degree weather. So, we have to ask: Have you been loving this break from typical New England winter weather or are you in serious need of snowfall? Let us know in the comments section below.

Snow showers will move through the area on Saturday.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Feb. 11 for Norfolk County. Despite sunny skies and temperatures in the 40s Friday, Foxborough will be brought back to reality early Saturday morning as wintry precipitation moves into the area, according to the National Weather Service. Foxborough is expected to see slight rain mixed with snow, before converting over to all snow after 10:00 a.m on Saturday. Foxborough should get about 3.6 inches of snow, according to AccuWeather's website. Cold air will follow the small snow shower this weekend, with Saturday's high predicted to be 36 degrees and Sunday's high predicted to be a chilly 25 degrees with wind.

Snow and heat turn up the chatter.
My neighbor is stuck behind a round mound of snow. "I can't wait until it's summer and 90 degrees." Nine months later, the same neighbor, with water bottle in hand, is making her way up the walk. "Man, it's hot. I wish it were cooler. When is this heat going to stop?" That's the beauty of weather. If it's one way, you want it the other way. Give me snow on a 100-degree day. Give me blistering heat on a freezing cold day. Weather also brings out the best in us...most of the time. Anyone who was alive and breathing in the epic Blizzard of 1978 remembers how neighbors who barely said "hello" to each other were opening up their homes, sharing supplies and friendship. My neighborhood designed a system where we would go house to house, asking …

Last day of school extended to June 23.
Summer vacation plans for Foxborough students may need to be adjusted by 3 days. Foxborough Public Schools will now be in session until June 23 and not June 20, as it was previously scheduled before four major snowstorms hit the area. Foxborough schools have seen four snow days so far this winter and spring is still 6 weeks away. Staff development day was canceled for January by Superintendent, Christopher Martes, in anticipation that there would be another snow day. Martes was proactive in making that decision, especially considering Foxborough had yet another snow day this Wednesday. Foxborough schools should stay in good "calender shape," and away from the possibility of taking days away from April or February vacations, assuming that…
