Patch recently caught up with Wrentham resident June Brady-Wooding, the owner/founder of Fanautical at Patriot Place to learn more about her fun-loving/unique clothing store and hear how she overcame a rare form of bone cancer five years ago.
In 2005, Wrentham resident June Brady-Wooding's world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer just eight months after giving birth to her second child. “Through that whole process – a two-year period – I was in bed and it was really intense and I had surgery,” Brady-Wooding said. “It wasn’t a good outlook.” Doctors had little research on the cancer, telling Brady-Wooding only 200 people a year are diagnosed with her form of bone cancer. But despite the bleak outlook, Brady-Wooding overcame the odds and has been cancer free since 2007. “I never thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to die,’” Brady-Wooding said. “I never thought ‘poor me.’ All I thought of was the end gain. The end gain to me was no matter what…

Patch recently caught up with Foxborough resident Trish Matthies, the owner of The Healing Moon Wellness Center on School Street to learn more about her business and what she offers to the community. Here’s what she had to say.
Foxborough resident Trish Matthies first began practicing reiki because she wanted to help people and has turned that devotion into a unique small business venture in town. “I recognized I had a sensitivity to emotions and was able to feel people's hurts, anger or stress,” Matthies said. “However, being able to sense these emotions or imbalances was not enough. I wanted to help people live healthier, happier lives with peace and balance. I truly wanted to make a difference.” So Matthies created The Healing Moon, which offers reiki, meditation, massage therapy, Thai yoga massage, yoga, workshops, spiritual counseling and readings for “those who wish to replenish their energy and restore balance to their lives.” Matthies, a lifelong resident…

(ARA) - Starting a business is a huge endeavor for entrepreneurs, especially when larger expense items are on the required equipment list. During a business' first few years of operation, renting equipment, rather than purchasing it outright, can allow the company to save money and invest toward becoming established. Entrepreneurs started more than 550,000 small businesses in 2009, the most recent year with data available, according to the Small Business Administration (SBA). Most of those businesses were financed through owner investment and bank credit, to the tune of about $80,000 a year, the SBA reports. That dollar figure doesn't stretch far …
