The following was provided by the office of Senator James Timilty. Senator James Timilty (D-Walpole), who represents Foxborough, recently announced the Senate has adopted an amendment to the Joint Rules governing the 188th General Court, which aims to improve transparency and fairness in the legislative process. The amendment, filed by Timilty, would limit the number of bills allowed to be taken up in a public hearing to no more than 35 bills at a time. Currently there is no limit on the number of bills allowed to be taken up at a time. “This rule is about keeping the process fair and ensuring that when a family travels to the State House to testify on a particular issue, committee chairs give them their fullest attention,” said Senator …

Foxborough's State Senator, James Timilty and state representative, Jay Barrows voted in favor of the law, which passed in the Senate last week.
A bill that toughens sentences for violent repeat-offenders passed the Senate last week after having been overwhelmingly approved in the House. Bailey is challenging for the seat. Bailey strongly believes that if the Senate would pass true reforms such as ending cash withdrawal a fraud unit would not be needed. “This is just crazy," said Bailey. "We have a huge problem with abuse of EBT cards. We know how to easily solve it by ending cash advances. It takes only a few adjustments administratively, but instead the incumbent wants to spend money to create a fraud unit. “Seeing as the federal government just busted a ring abusing the …

This bill comes after a special commission, authorized to study the EBT system after reports of widespread abuse of the cards, offered recommendations to lawmakers about how best to address the problem. “The food stamps program was first implemented to help families with limited incomes meet their basic needs,” said Senator Timilty. “This update to current laws will help combat the number of abuses that have become …

Exactly, this is the main issue with EBT Cards. If you are allowed to withdraw cash then there is no restriction or a paper trail of where that cash went. http://www.foodstampbalance.net/   more ›
