Snow Made for 'Terrible' Morning Commute Thursday in Foxborough Area

Many Foxborough Patch readers expressed frustration with Thursday morning's commute throughout the area.

Snow covered roads Thursday made for an unpleasant commute for many Foxborough Patch readers, who collective described road conditions as "terrible." We took to Facebook to ask how the morning commute was for our readers throughout the area and this is what they had to say: Ramona Kingsley said: "Foxborough roads stink!!! ... drove to Norton this morning and roads in Mansfield and Norton were all clear!!!" Raquel L. Auriemma said: "At 6:30 a.m., very slow going from Foxborough into Sharon. I saw plows/sand trucks in Sharon, but even those roads weren't in great shape." I'm glad you didn't let your newly licensed driver out on the road this morning, but like I said...put them on the buses! We have schedules to make and can't because of excess traffic and bad road conditions...but we HAVE to be out there. All the cars do not! How did the town handle the Blizzard of 2013?

Blizzard 2013 produced the region's fifth largest snowstorm in history, yet Foxborough reported very few problems from the two-day storm. For the first time in over a year, a major storm in town did not result in massive power outages. In fact, this weekend’s blizzard produced zero outages – only flickering lights on Saturday night. That was the good news. The bad was Foxborough was part of the "jackpot" area for snowfall in Massachusetts, accumulating 29 inches in town, according to the National Weather Service. That record amount of snowfall left a massive mess for the town's DPW to clean up. Workers hit the roads Friday and plowed day and night through Sunday, taking short breaks to sleep and eat, according to DPW Director Roger Hill. …

The Blizzard of 2013, Foxboro Highway Dept. did a fantastic job. Isaw pavement before any other town did. they worked from first snow flake and are still removing snow from the town. They had long 24hr shifts, no breaks and hano shower or hot food to eat. Most of all they could not be home with their family , instead they were making it safe for all of foxboro residence to be able too get around …   more ›

State of Foxborough: Focus Remains on Clearing Main and Secondary Roads; Residents Urged to Stay Inside

UPDATE (12:35 p.m.; Feb. 9, 2013) - Foxborough officials received an update at noon Saturday on the town’s condition as Blizzard 2013 starts to move away from the region. Foxborough DPW Director Roger Hill said his department’s focus remains on the clearing the main and secondary roads.
