Boston Marathon Tragedy Reinforces Need for Blood; Drive to be Held at Patriot Place on April 25th

Brigham and Women's/Mass General Health Care Center to host blood drive at Patriot Place on April 25th.

The Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center at Patriot Place will host a blood drive on Thursday, April 25 from 9:30 a.m to 3 p.m. on the Patriot Place concourse next to the Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center. Blood donations will be taken inside the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital Blood Mobile near Gillette Stadium’s Bank of America gate.   All who are planning to donate on April 25th are encouraged to schedule their blood donation appointment for that day. The Red Cross Responds to Help Springfield Tornado Victims‎

The Red Cross is accepting donations to help Springfield tornado victims.

Wednesday's tornadoes across Springfield and 19 other communities have caused extensive damage, at least 200 injuries and killed 4 people. Over 300 people have sought shelter relief. Many residents have lost their homes, buildings and churches have been damaged and cars are turned upside down. The weather in Central and Western Massachusetts, including two damaging tornadoes in the Springfield area, forced Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick to issue a State of Emergency. Patrick has mobilized up to 1,000 members of the National Guard to help in search and rescue and debris cleanup. The Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, which provides response services to people in Central and Western Massachusetts, is accepting donations …

Crisis in Japan: Reaching Out to Help

Salvation Army and other agencies respond to relief efforts.

A 8.9-magnitude earthquake rattled and rocked Japan, March 11, triggering a powerful tsunami that crashed upon the country's eastern shore. Over 3,000 are confirmed dead according to Fox News and thousands are still missing. Japan's coastal towns are struggling to survive each day, leaving many scrambling to find food, water and shelter.  Even if you live thousands of miles away from the destruction, there are still various ways that you can offer your support to the relief effort. The Red Cross. You can donate to the effort either online through Red Cross's donation website or via text message. Text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 from your phone. The Salvation Army.
