Patch recently checked in with the Orpheum Theatre to see what's coming up at the School Street venue.
As summer gets closer, the Orpheum Theatre is getting ready to provide programs and classes for kids looking for something to do after the school year ends. Executive Director Billl Cunningham told Patch they are getting ready to hold their annual summer classes for kids. There will be two sessions, each lasting for two weeks in June and late July going into August. Registration infomation can be found on the theater's website. For those who want to have their own private affair, the Orpheum is available to rent for $1,000 a night. For the adults, Cunningham said he is looking at doing a Sunday Blues program and the theater wil host comedian Lenny Clarke on June 1.

Children of the Mansfield Arts & Education Center of the Hockomock Area YMCA performed Honk! Jr. at Foxborough's Orpheum Theatre last weekend.
Chidren of the Mansfield Arts & Education Center of the Hockomock Area YMCA presented Honk! Jr. on stage at Foxborough’s Orpheum Theatre last weekend. Director Heather Utsler-Smith pulled together a cast of more than 40 children, including some who have grown up with the Y’s youth theatre group. These young thespians range in age from 7-14 and had been rehearsing for the show since November. Last weekend's show was the Hockomock Area YMCA youth theatre’s 25th production since its inception in 2006. Honk! Jr. was performed with full lights, costumes, set and sound. On Thursday, Nov. 29th, Cowboy Spirit Films will be hosting the premiere of its feature film, "Cowboy Spirit," which will include a meet and greet with the cast. This event is open to the public and will be held at the Orpheum Theatre in Foxborough. Produced and filmed locally in and around Boston, this independent film tells the story of Ted Walters, who must draw on the lessons he learned as a kid from his grandfather, a champion rodeo cowboy, as he tries to help a little girl who is battling cancer.
