Town Expects Answers to Christina’s Liquor License ‘Mess’ at Tuesday’s Hearing

The Foxborough Board of Selectmen will continue its public hearing Tuesday to sort out the liquor license transfer involving the current owner of Christina’s Fireside Grille's license and the property's landlord.

Questions over ownership of the town issued liquor license to Christina's Fireside Grille and more than 10 violations of that license forced the Foxborough Board of Selectmen to continue its July 24th license transfer hearing with the function hall's landlord. On Tuesday, the board is expecting answers to questions that were raised at that July meeting when the public hearing resumes at 7:20 p.m. during the Board of Selectmen meeting. “We asked the owner (of the liquor license) to sort out their mess, pay their town obligations and hopefully come back to us with a clean application that addresses the concerns we raised,” Board of Selectmen chair James DeVellis said of the situation that developed almost two weeks ago. Christina's Owner Responds to Landlord's Accusations Over Closing

Christina's co-owner Marjorie Clapprood says the function hall's landlord, Nicholas Panagopoulos, owes her money for basic maintenance. Panagopoulos says Clapprood and her husband, Chris Spinazolla, owe him money.

Nicholas Panagopoulos, the landlord of the recently closed _Christina's Fireside Grille_ on Route 1 in Foxborough, says the owners of the function hall owe him $550,000. Christina's co-owner Marjorie Clapprood and her husband, Chris Spinazolla denied the claim and say they are actually owed for money they put into the facility. “It’s been a dispute for well over a year," Clapprood said. "[Panagopoulos] wanted more rent and he was not willing to pay for general capital improvements meaning basic maintenance of the major parts of the building that are the landlord’s responsibility." Denying not paying rent, Clapprood stated that she was able to pay the rent and anytime she paid a reduced rent, the check was sent to Panagopoulos along with a …
