The following is a summary of police activity and incidents reported from the Jan. 13 and Jan. 20 New England Patriots NFL playoff games at Gillette Stadium, as reported in Foxborough's police logs.
While the New England Patriots most recent playoff run ended in disappointment it did bring the two largest and most well behaved crowds of the 2012-13 season to Foxborough, according to Police Chief Edward O’Leary. “Crowd behavior [during the Patriots playoff games] was exceptional,” O’Leary said. “Things went very well.” In the Jan. 13 AFC Divisional Round game at Gillette Stadium, police reported 44 protective custodies and seven arrests out of a crowd of 68,756. The following week, police reported 33 protective custodies and seven arrests out of a crowd of 68,756 at the Jan. 20 AFC Championship Game at Gillette Stadium. The New England Patriots will host the Baltimore Ravens for the second consecutive season in the AFC Championship game next Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Winner advances to Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans.
On Saturday the galaxy aligned for the AFC Championship game to return to Foxborough for a second straight season after the Baltimore Ravens upset the Denver Broncos, 38-35 in double overtime of the AFC Divisional Round. All that stood between the Patriots and a return to the AFC Championship game was a Lone Star - the Houston Texans. On Sunday, that star burned out in Foxborough as the Patriots rolled past Houston, 41-28. Now, for the fifth time in team history, the AFC Championship game will be played in Foxborough. The Patriots are 4-0 all-time in AFC title games at home and 7-1 overall. "It’s good to be able to play in the AFC Championship Game next week," said Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. "I’m really proud of our players; I …

Foxborough resident Paul Currie was one of five blood donors to win Patriots playoff tickets after participating in Dunkin' Donuts sixth annual "Give a Pint, Get a Pound" campaign last week at Patriot Place.
Foxborough resident Paul Currie realized the importance of giving blood several years ago when his daughter had a major surgery. “I realized giving blood is something we all need to do,” Currie said. "[It is] easy and the benefits for others are priceless.” Currie, 52, was off from work last week when he heard about an American Red Cross blood drive happening at Patriot Place. “I decided I would do my part,” Currie said of participating in last Thursday’s Dunkin’ Donuts sixth annual “Give a Pint, Give a Pound” campaign. As part of the event at Patriot Place, five lucky donors would win two tickets apiece to Sunday’s AFC Divisional Round playoff game between the New England Patriots and Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium. Currie was one of …

The New England Patriots will host the Houston Texans in next Sunday's AFC divisional round at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Kick-off is 4:30 p.m.
One day after learning the Houston Texans will be making a return trip to Foxborough for next Sunday's AFC divisional round game, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said the team is well into its preparation for its first opponent of the postseason. "We’re full speed ahead here on Houston," Belichick told reporters in a conference call Sunday. "It really gives us a little bit of a jump on the situation so we can spend [Sunday] and really every day now going forward totally focusing our attention on them. Obviously they had a terrific year and a big win [Saturday] against Cincinnati." The Texans beat Cincinnati, 19-13 in Houston Saturday to advance to the Jan. 13 game at Gillette Stadium (kick-off 4:30 p.m.). It will be the …

The New England Patriots are off this weekend but there's still plenty for Pats fans to watch for in the NFL's Wild Card weekend.
The NFL playoffs kick-off this weekend and while the New England Patriots will be on the sidelines resting up for next Sunday's AFC Divisional Round playoff game, there's still plenty for the Pats and their fans to watch for Saturday and Sunday. For starters, the results of this weekend's AFC Wild Card games will determine which team travels to Foxborough next weekend to take on the Patriots at Gillette Stadium. If the Houston Texans beat the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday (kick-off is 4:30 p.m.) then the Pats will host the Texans next Sunday. However, if the Bengals defeat the Texans in Houston then the Patriots will host the winner of Sunday's Indianapolis Colts/Baltimore Ravens wild card game. Kick-off in Baltimore is set for 1 p.m. In …

Here's a brief roundup of Foxborough news and information gathered from Tuesday’s Board of Selectmen meeting.
Foxborough’s Board of Selectmen chose not to follow the recent actions of several towns in the area to join Walpole’s lead in requesting a delay in the implementation of the “medical marijuana law,” which is set to take effect on Jan. 1, 2013. Selectmen agreed to take no action on Walpole’s request to send a letter to the town’s legislative delegation seeking support to pass legislation that would delay the effective of the medical marijuana law. “Not to be critical of anyone but I think there is some concern about control of marijuana use and who would be at these clinics,” said Foxborough Town Manager Kevin Paicos. “I’m not sure that’s really founded because the Department of Public Health is putting out some stringent regulations about …
