Foxborough Fire Department Rings Engine Bell 26 Times for Newtown Victims

The Foxborough Fire Department observed a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. Friday in memory of the 26 victims of last week's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Foxborough firefighters gathered outside of their Chestnut Street firehouse just before 9:30 a.m. Friday to join the nation in a moment of silence for the victims of last week's tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Overcast skies and rain represented a sorrowful nation, still hurting deeply from the unimaginable act of violence that claimed the lives of 20 children - none older than seven years old - and six adults in the Newtown, Conn. community. As Foxborough firefighters stood quietly in front of the firehouse, the bell of Engine 24 rang 26 times - once for the memory of each life lost on that fateful morning one week ago today.
