Patrick Murphy, executive director of Invensys YMCA Foxboro Branch, writes in to thank Invensys Foxboro Corporation for their recent volunteer work at the YMCA.
Dear editor, On behalf of the Hockomock Area YMCA, I want to take this opportunity to thank John Eva, Marc Tetreault, and all volunteers of Invensys Corporation, Foxboro for their day of donated services to the Hockomock Area YMCA, Invensys Foxboro Branch. In recognition of National Volunteers Week, Invensys Corporation volunteers generously donated their time on April 24th, assisting the Hockomock Area YMCA with cleaning up the creek, clearing brush, and helping with a major winter storm/spring cleanup to the entrance way and fields at the Invensys Foxboro Branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA. We appreciate Invensys Corporation employees’ work and time commitment giving back to the Community of Foxborough and helping beautify the grounds of…

Thursday, April 4
To the Editor, Without a doubt, Foxborough is at a crossroads, a congested intersection in time. With the casino matter far behind us, solving critical issues of the day need our collective attention, as they relate to town finances, the need for capital improvements, better schools and community programs for all ages and enhanced public safety. This requires leadership on the Board of Selectmen with passion, balance and experience. Lynda Wash brings all this to the table. She has demonstrated over time the ability to listen, resolve issues, and work for interests of all Foxborough residents. I’ve known Lynda for many years. I trust her judgment and commitment to this town. Continuity on the board of selectmen is crucial. Andso I will be…

We would love to have a robust Letters to the Editor section on Foxborough Patch; here is how you can help!
Editor's note: We do accept Letters to the Editor that have been published or submitted to other publications. It’s a question we get asked a lot: “How do I submit a Letter to the Editor?” And with a host of candidates on the April ballot, brown water problem in town, business development opportunities along Route 1, the future of Town Hall and plenty of more local issues to address, we thought there was no better time to answer. (Don’t get us wrong, Letters to the Editor don’t have to be political. Sometimes the small issues or community "thank yous" resonate the most.) There are two ways to submit a Letter to the Editor to Foxborough Patch: 1. As a blog post. Submitting a Letter to the Editor as a blog post is easy (really as simple as …

Two Chestnut Street residents write in to extend their thanks and appreciation to everyone at Foxborough’s DPW for the hard work and tireless efforts of the town’s workers.
To the Foxborough DPW workers, We moved to Chestnut Street this past November and just experienced our first major snowstorm in Foxborough we would like to extend our sincerest thanks to each and every one of you for your efforts during – and after – the Blizzard of 2013. While we were waiting out the 29 inches of snow from the warmth of our home, you were all out there keeping up with the blizzard in cold and dangerous conditions. You have worked day and night with little to no rest for over three days just so people like us can get out of our homes and onto the roads. We know some have complained about the town’s roads just a day after the blizzard and we believe that is just not fair criticism. Period. We read the comments on Facebook …
Foxborough resident Pat Larkin writes in to ask parents to keep their children clear of the snow piles along the sides of the roads.

To all parents, Please remind your children to stay clear of the snow piles on the side of the roads! The plows will still be pushing back and as much fun as it may seem to slide down those piles or build a snow fort (as I did 50-plus years ago) it is NOT SAFE!!! We do not need to read about any tragedies in Foxborough. Also, when school does open, please make sure your children wait several feet off the road. There are often icy patches and even at a crawling pace if we hit a patch of ice at a bus stop the bus could slide a little or a car caught off guard could hit the brakes and slide as well. We also do not want children up on snow banks as we approach or depart and risk slipping into the road. Please make sure your child(ren) waits …

To the editor, The Hockomock Area YMCA’s annual Legends Ball is the signature event for our YMCA, raising funds to support our Integration Initiative. The Integration Initiative provides children with special needs opportunities to participate alongside their typically developing peers in Y programs and activities. Our 2012 Legends Ball along with the Legends Golf Classic raised more than $165,000 to support this important inclusion initiative. I would like to take this opportunity to offer our Y’s heartfelt appreciation to all those who have allowed this mission driven initiative to evolve and thrive. The Legends events would not be possible without the incredible support of so many New England Sports legends, past and present, who …

Monday, November 19, 2012
Dear Editor, On Saturday, Nov. 10 the Foxboro Midget Pop Warner Cheerleading team qualified for the National Competition that will be held Dec. 3-8 at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. While the Pop Warner program has had many teams come close these girls are the first cheerleading Pop Warner group in Foxborough history to ever make it to the national competition. This group of 12 girls through their hard work and dedication started out Oct. 20 winning the title of Hockomock League champions and finished in second place in the two more competitions and ultimately qualified for nationals. We are all so of their accomplishment and wanted to share the great news with everyone in town. That being said we are also asking for the town to support our…

Mathew Helman, Communications Director for ProgressMass writes in to tell Foxborough seniors why he thinks Scott Brown's health care policy is harmful to them.

Dear Editor, According to the 2010 Census, 2,305 people age 65 and older live in Foxborough, and every one of them should be deeply concerned about Republican Scott Brown’s health care policy. The centerpiece of Brown’s health care policy is working to repeal the Affordable Care Act, the federal health care reform law known as ObamaCare. National health care advocacy organization Community Catalyst Action Fund released a new analysis finding that, if the Affordable Care Act (“ObamaCare”) is repealed, senior citizens in Foxborough and across Massachusetts will be saddled with higher costs and fewer benefits. ObamaCare, as it is known, lowers seniors’ Medicare premiums and out-of-pocket costs by an estimated $500 per year. This means that…
