Foxborough's Nate Bayuk Wrapping up Career at Boston College

The Boston College baseball team upset Virginia Tech Sunday at home.

The Boston College baseball team used a four-run rally in the eighth inning to come back and defeat 25th-ranked Virginia Tech, 5-3, on Sunday afternoon at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at Commander Shea Field. Before the start of the game, seven seniors were recognized for their careers in the Maroon and Gold. Red-shirt senior Nate Bayuk of Foxborough faced one batter in the ninth inning before Norwood's John Gorman came on in relief to get his second save of the season. This season, Bayuk, a lefthander, has made 23 appearances, allowing one home run with a 5.40 ERA and 11 strikeouts.  Foxborough's John Nicklas, a freshman, has made 18 appearances out of the bullpen with a 1-0 record and 3.88 ERA. Foxborough natives and Boston College pitchers Nate Bayuk and John Nicklas have the chance to take the mound against Major League hitters Thursday as BC scrimmages the Boston Red Sox in Fort Myers, Fla. Thursday's scrimmage is part of split-squad doubleheader for Red Sox, who take the field against Northeastern at 1:30 p.m. The BC game will follow 40 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
