PHOTOS: Foxborough Students Raise Over $1K for Marathon Victims on 'Boston Strong' Spirit Day

Foxborough students wore their favorite Boston shirts and hats to show off their Boston pride Friday and collect donations for The One Fund Boston to aid Marathon victims.

Students from around the Foxborough School District showed they were “Boston Strong” Friday by wearing their favorite Boston shirts and hats to show support of their city and collect donations for The One Fund Boston to aid Marathon victims. Students at Igo Elementary School were able to raise $682.20 to donate to The One Fund Boston through its special spirit day Friday. “I’m so proud of our students,” said Igo principal Mike Stanton. “The students raised $682.20, which I think will be a little higher once a few additional donations are turned in on Monday.” Ahern Middle School principal Sue Abrams said students were able to raise over $800 for Marathon victims. New Administrators, Curriculum Highlight Changes to Foxborough Schools in 2012

Here's a look at what's new around the Foxborough School District in 2012-13.

As the calendar turns to the end of August – and summer – families will be spending the next 12 days readying their children for another school year in Foxborough. For some students, it will be their first day at their respective school while others – the seasoned veterans of Foxborough education – will be embarking on their final year in the district. No matter the experience, however, every student, teacher and administrator will notice changes throughout the district in 2012-13. “We have two new principals,” said Foxborough Schools Superintendent Debra Spinelli. “Diane Myers-Pachla at the high school, who is a [Foxborough School District] returnee. It should be fun time tonight at the Igo School with the family picnic.

    1. The Blue Hills Brewery Dinner will be tonight at Tastings Wine Bar & Bistro at Patriot Place at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $65. There will be a three course meal with desserts and hors d'oeuveres. 2. The Igo School Family Picnic will be tonight from 6-8 p.m. 3. The Burrell PTO meeting will be tonight at 7 p.m. 4.  The Foxboro American Legion Baseball team is scheduled to play its first home game of the season Thursday night against Norwood in a 5:45 p.m. start. 5. There will be rain today in the morning, followed by cloudy in the afternoon, according to weather.com.

The Foxborough Board of Selectmen will be meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at town hall.

  1. The Sage School Theater Company will be presenting "Suessical Jr." at Foxboro Orpheum Theatre, Friday at 7 p.m. 2. The initial findings of the Foxborough Master Plan will be shown Thursday at McGinity Room in the Foxborough Public Safety Building. Registration is at 6:30 p.m. 3. The Foxborough High Student Council will be holding its banquet tonight at FHS at 6:30 p.m. 4. Kindergarten screening is going on all day the Burrell School and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Igo School today. 5. It will a high of 77 today with p.m. showers with a low of 59.

The Foxborough High National Honor Society banquet will be held Thursday from 5-8:30 p.m. 3. The Burrell, Taylor and Igo Schools will be holding a kindergarten meet and greet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. tonight. 4. The Hockomock League Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be at Oliver Ames in Easton this year. The field events will be Wednesday, while the running will take place Thursday. 5. Rain is expected today with a high of 70, so bring the umbrella.

Norfolk Taps Igo School Principal Ingrid Allardi for Superintendent Position.

The Igo Elementary School principal will be leaving at the end of the school year to be the Norfolk Superintendent.

When school starts up again this September, there will be a different person sitting in the principal’s office at the Igo Elementary School. Since coming to Foxborough in 2003, Ingrid Allardi had been the principal of the Igo School, but once the current school year ends, she will be leaving the Foxborough to take over as the Norfolk Superintendent of Schools. “It's been a great experience, I’ve loved every minute. This is an exciting new career challenge for me. Being so close to home is a great professional opportunity for me,” Allardi said. Allardi, who also served as the Foxborough assistant superintendent from 2006-2007 will be in charge of the Norfolk public school system which consists of two elementary schools. The Wrentham …

The Foxborough High baseball team will be starting play this afternoon.

  1. Play Ball! The Foxborough High baseball team will be opening up the season today at home against Stoughton in a 3:30 p.m. 2. Don't forget to forget to vote for best places to have your taxes done in Foxborough and Wrentham in the Best of Patch Readers Choice. 3. Most of the Foxborough schools will be closed for Good Friday on Friday, but the Igo School will be having a half day for the time they missed because of a water main break back in December. 4. There will be a free dodge ball tournament for students at Foxborough High April 11. 5. This will be a nice day to get outside as temperatures are expected to reach a high of 69 with bright, sunny skies.
