LETTER: Foxboro YMCA Thanks Invensys for Volunteer Work

Patrick Murphy, executive director of Invensys YMCA Foxboro Branch, writes in to thank Invensys Foxboro Corporation for their recent volunteer work at the YMCA.

Dear editor, On behalf of the Hockomock Area YMCA, I want to take this opportunity to thank John Eva, Marc Tetreault, and all volunteers of Invensys Corporation, Foxboro for their day of donated services to the Hockomock Area YMCA, Invensys Foxboro Branch. In recognition of National Volunteers Week, Invensys Corporation volunteers generously donated their time on April 24th, assisting the Hockomock Area YMCA with cleaning up the creek, clearing brush, and helping with a major winter storm/spring cleanup to the entrance way and fields at the Invensys Foxboro Branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA.  We appreciate Invensys Corporation employees’ work and time commitment giving back to the Community of Foxborough and helping beautify the grounds of…

Foxborough Foxborough Selectmen Support Invensys Tax Break; Will Recommend Approval at Town Meeting Invensys took a significant step Tuesday towards investing approximately $33 million into its existing buildings to stay in Foxborough as the town's Board of Selectmen unanimously agreed to recommend the company's Tax Increment Financing (TIF) proposal to voters at Town Meeting on May 13. The proposal calls for a 15-year TIF agreement between Invensys and the town that would save the company approximately $1.8 million while producing roughly $7.6 million in additional tax revenue over that timeframe. Keeping Invensys in Foxborough May Come Down to Tax Break Invensys, with roots 104 years old in Foxborough, has expressed “significant”   interest to remain in town but needs a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) program approved in order to invest $30 million worth of renovations to existing infrastructure. Steve Sacco, senior vice president of Invensys, informed selectmen last week the company is approaching the end of two building leases in town and has started looking at its options both in and outside of Foxborough. Around Town: Recreation Board Member Resigns, Selectmen Schedule Business Opportunity Meeting with Invensys & More

The following town news and notes were compiled from the Jan. 22 Foxborough Board of Selectmen meeting.

Invensys, locally known as the Foxboro Company, is interested in meeting with the town’s Board of Selectmen to discuss future business opportunities with a community it has served for over 100 years. Foxborough Board of Selectmen vice chair Mark Sullivan has been speaking with the company’s leaders about where the business is and what its future plans are in town. Invensys has agreed to attend to the Feb. 5 BOS meeting to share these discussions with the public and other board members. Foxborough’s Board of Selectmen accepted with regret the resignation of Peter St. Laurent from the Board of Foxborough Recreation.
