LETTER: Foxboro YMCA Thanks Invensys for Volunteer Work

Patrick Murphy, executive director of Invensys YMCA Foxboro Branch, writes in to thank Invensys Foxboro Corporation for their recent volunteer work at the YMCA.

Dear editor, On behalf of the Hockomock Area YMCA, I want to take this opportunity to thank John Eva, Marc Tetreault, and all volunteers of Invensys Corporation, Foxboro for their day of donated services to the Hockomock Area YMCA, Invensys Foxboro Branch. In recognition of National Volunteers Week, Invensys Corporation volunteers generously donated their time on April 24th, assisting the Hockomock Area YMCA with cleaning up the creek, clearing brush, and helping with a major winter storm/spring cleanup to the entrance way and fields at the Invensys Foxboro Branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA.  We appreciate Invensys Corporation employees’ work and time commitment giving back to the Community of Foxborough and helping beautify the grounds of…

Hockomock YMCA's Healthy Kids Day Set for Saturday at Patriot Place

The day will feature active play and educational activities including bouncy houses, a DJ, dance party, Y camp activities, a kids boot camp, imagination station, nutrition & active games, science experiments and more.

The Hockomock Area YMCA is celebrating Healthy Kids Day with a free community event on Saturday, April 27th at Patriot Place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event encourages kids to be active and provides families with options and methods for living healthier. This will be the first time all the Hockomock Area MYCA branches will join together to form one big event. Hockomock YMCA Branches to Hold Camp Information Day on April 6

Learn more about the YMCA's summer camp options.

Registration is now open for summer camp at the Hockomock Area YMCA. All three branches in Foxborough, North Attleboro, and Franklin will hold camp information days on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to noon. Visit any of the Y's full-service branches during Camp Information Days to get a personal feel for the camps. Hockomock Area YMCA Recruiting Over 300 Volunteers to Reach Out for Local Families

Patriot Place General Manager Brian Earley and Mike Patch, President of CSM Group, Inc. will co-chair the Hockomock Area YMCA's 2013 Reach Out for Youth and Families Campaign.

PHOTOS: A ‘Spectacular’ Ending to Winter Skate Season at Patriot Place

Proceeds from Sunday's “Finale on Ice” figure skating event at Patriot Place benefited the Hockomock Area YMCA’s Reach Out for Youth initiative.

Winter Skate at Patriot Place presented by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care closed for the season this past Sunday but not without a spectacular finale. Patriot Place hosted “Finale on Ice” at the outdoor skating rink Sunday evening, featuring 25 performances by 38 local competitive figure skaters, all with ties to the New England area. Among the participants were Jade Esposito, a fifth-grader at Newton Country Day School, and Nathan Rensing, a freshman at Wachusett Regional High School, who together won the silver medal at the Eastern Sectionals in 2012 and placed seventh in the nation at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January 2013; Adrian Huertas, a sophomore at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, who has medaled at the New …

Children of Hockomock Area YMCA Shine in Production of Honk! Jr.

Children of the Mansfield Arts & Education Center of the Hockomock Area YMCA performed Honk! Jr. at Foxborough's Orpheum Theatre last weekend.

Chidren of the Mansfield Arts & Education Center of the Hockomock Area YMCA presented Honk! Jr. on stage at Foxborough’s Orpheum Theatre last weekend. Director Heather Utsler-Smith pulled together a cast of more than 40 children, including some who have grown up with the Y’s youth theatre group. These young thespians range in age from 7-14 and had been rehearsing for the show since November.  Last weekend's show was the Hockomock Area YMCA youth theatre’s 25th production since its inception in 2006.  Honk! Jr. was performed with full lights, costumes, set and sound. Residents are asked to wear red on Friday, Feb. 8 for the "Healthy Hearts" Family Valentine Dance from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Hockomock Area YMCA invites area residents to wear red on Friday, Feb. 8 for the ‘Healthy Hearts’ Family Valentine Dance on Friday, Feb. 8th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Y's Bernon Family Branch (45 Forge Hill Rd., Franklin) and Invensys Foxboro Branch (67 Mechanic St., Foxborough) and 6-8 p.m. at the Y's North Attleboro Branch (300 Elmwood St., North Attleboro).  This free event guarantees a good time for all with a DJ and lots of dancing, including 20 minute intervals of line dances for teens and follow-the-leader songs for preschoolers. Letter to the Editor: Legends Events Help YMCA Raise Over $165K

Hockomock Area YMCA president Ed Hurley writes in to offer his heartfelt appreciation to all those who helped keep the mission of The Integration Initiative moving forward in 2012.

To the editor, The Hockomock Area YMCA’s annual Legends Ball is the signature event for our YMCA, raising funds to support our Integration Initiative.  The Integration Initiative provides children with special needs opportunities to participate alongside their typically developing peers in Y programs and activities.  Our 2012 Legends Ball along with the Legends Golf Classic raised more than $165,000 to support this important inclusion initiative. Foxborough to Host Community Forum for Child Sexual Abuse Prevention

This forum offers the community an opportunity to discuss the issues of child sexual abuse, learn more about its devastating impact and to learn how to prevent it.

In light of the recent disclosures of sexual abuse in Foxborough, the Foxborough Public Schools, police department and Hockomock Area YMCA has come together to offer a community prevention forum for child sexual abuse prevention. The forum, which will be held at the Ahern Middle School auditorium on Monday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m., will provide an important opportunity to bring the community together to discuss the issues of child sexual abuse, learn more about its devastating impact and to find out together as a community, what Foxborough can do to prevent it.  This meeting will demonstrate that child sexual abuse is an issue that affects everyone, not just those that were abused and their family members. Hocomock Area YMCA President Named Chamber's Person of the Year

The United Regional Chamber of Commerce announced Ed Hurley, president of the Hockomock Area YMCA is its Person of the Year.

Ed Hurley, president of the Hocomock Area YMCA, has been named Person of the Year by the United Regional Chamber of Commerce. Hurley oversees YMCAs in the area, including the Invensys Foxboro Branch. A chamber press release Monday said, "Under Hurley's leadership, the Hockomock YCMA serves every segment of the population, from preschoolers to senior citizens." State Rep. Betty Poirier nominated Hurley for the award. "At the heart of all of these programs is Ed Hurley," said Poirier, according to the chamber's release. "He is the inspiration and the motivation for all of these programs and many more. Ed is respected by all those who have been touched by his generous and loving nature."
