There was no doubt that it was going to be a tough game for Foxboro. Unfortunately, the Warriors came up a bit short in their quest for the state title as they loss to Medfield 11-5 in the semi-finals of the MIAA Division 2 Eastern State Tournament. Foxborough Lacrosse Wins, Advances to Semifinals

Foxborough defeats the Raiders in an impressive 8-1 win.

Foxborough lacrosse looks like a team on a mission. Playing Reading Memorial High School in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Division 2 Eastern tournament, the Warriors drained the Raiders on a hot afternoon en route to an impressive 8-1 win. Playing against a Reading team that uses a similar strategy as Foxborough, the first half was mostly a slow paced affair. With both teams taking their time to maximize their possessions, shots were carefully taken with two strong goalies in net. While slower, it was a pace that no one on the Warriors minded playing. “I love it. It brings out your best in you,” said Warriors senior captain Connor Whalen. Despite the tight game, Whalen opened up scoring at 2:23 in the first quarter to give the Warriors an …

The Foxborough boys' lacrosse team is ready for the postseason.

Two teams from Foxborough High will take part in postseason play starting this week. The boys’ lacrosse team will start their quest for the state championship against Northeast Metro Tech on Tuesday at 5pm at State School Field while the girls’ tennis team will have to wait until Wednesday to see who their opening round opponent will be. In part 1 of our tournament preview, we’ll look at boys’ lacrosse and what is in store for them. Coming in at the 4 seed, it's the best that the Warriors could of hoped for after losing the Hockomock Cup to Franklin.  Drawing the 29th seed NE Metro Tech in the opening round, it shouldn’t be too hard for the Warriors to get past the 9-7 Knights.  Expect a high scoring game against the Knights. Based on …

Foxborough Girls Lacrosse Looks to Promising Future

Foxborough looks ahead to the future after a hard loss to King Philip.

The Foxborough girls lacrosse season came to a disappointing end Monday afternoon. Coming out strong against King Philip, Foxborough looked to jump on KP early. Danielle Warner got an early goal for Foxborough that was followed up by another goal from Abby Tepper. The early lead would not last for Foxborough. Making great use their speed, Mallory Knowlton and Olivia Fair quickly tied the game up. King Philip continued to pound on Foxboro with 2 big goals from Kathryn Riley to give KP a 4-2 lead. Scoring 4 goals in a span of less than 3 minutes, it was apparent that King Philip had gotten out of…

Foxborough Girls Lacrosse Scores Big Win Over Sharon

Warriors came out on top with an 18-1 win over the Sharon Eagles.

The Foxborough High girls lacrosse team has come a long way since the beginning of the season. Back in the beginning of April, the team fought their way to a 14-14 tie with the Sharon Eagles. Six weeks later, the Warriors came out on top with an absolutely trouncing 18-1 win over the Eagles. Early on the Warriors showed the most confidence they’ve had all season. Not settling after the first shot, the Warriors’ first three goals came off of 2nd chance shots from the initial shooter.  “No matter how confident we our in our shooters we always have to be there as a backup in case because those 2nd chance opportunities are so important,” said Warriors Coach Jess Cercone. Foxborough Lacrosse Defeats Rival Mansfield

Foxborough's James Stather led the way with 5 goals in a 9-6 win over Mansfield.

Foxborough showed how dangerous their depth can be today. Going into today’s game, Mansfield thought that shutting down Connor Whalen and Billy Roberts would be the key to victory. It was instead James Stather who led the way with 5 goals in a 9-6 win over Mansfield. “James Stather today stepped up today. Any day it could be someone different on the attack. Today it was James’ turn,“ said Warriors coach Matt Noone. In a game where the neither team could get beyond a 1 goal lead for most of the game. Stather was a one man show on offense for the Warriors. Down late in the 1st 1-0, Stather scored the first of his 5 goals off a bounce pass from the left side of the goal to tie the game up at 1. Two minutes later Stather would strike again. …
