Foxborough Board of Selectmen chair James DeVellis cites Foxborough's vulnerability to storms as reason for exodus.
Foxborough Board of Selectmen James DeVellis and Lynda Walsh have had it with all of this snow. The two board members, who are both up for reelection this spring, have weighed their options and have decided to take their talents - and sanity - south to Florida. "After shoveling all day, Lynda Walsh and I have decided to move down to Florida together and leave this snow and the election behind," DeVellis told Foxborough Patch just after 6 p.m. Friday. An ocean storm has brought more snow than originally expected in Foxborough Thursday, causing for a frustrating and messy morning commute throughout the area. February is proving to be an expensive month for Foxborough as two straight weekends of snow has wiped out the town’s snow and ice removal budget with another potential storm on the way. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area Wednesday night into Thursday morning and Saturday into Sunday.
As if the 29 inches of snow the Blizzard of 2013 dumped on Foxborough this past weekend wasn’t enough, there’s more snow expected to hit the area Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service. “Low to moderate confidence of advisory-level snow – 3 inches or more – for Wednesday night into Thursday morning,” the NWS said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement. In Foxborough, snow is likely between 1 and 3 a.m. Wednesday night, which could have an impact on Thursday’s morning commute.
