Foxborough Tennis Celebrates a Successful Season

Foxborough tennis gathered for one last time this season at their tennis banquet.

It was a happy but emotional night at the Foxboro High School tennis banquet. Getting together for the final time this year in an official capacity, it was a celebration of both team’s successes and memories. While the boys were only able to get a handful of wins, the team was able to improve all season to set themselves up to get more wins next year. In his second year as the coach for the boys’ team, Dan Damish expressed the importance of looking beyond their record. “When you leave the high school many, many years from now, your going to forget most of your wins and most of your losses and what you’re going to remember is the experiences you had coming out to practices with your friends, improving, and hopefully still playing tennis,” …

Hillers Edge Out Foxborough From Tennis Playoffs

The Warriors suffered their first loss of the season and were eliminated from postseason play by a score of 3-2.

Not even rain could stop the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional Championship for girls’ tennis. Originally scheduled to take play at Medway High School, the match was moved to the indoor courts of the Kingsbury Club in Medfield. With no choice but to play inside, the Warriors faced their toughest challenge in a strong Hopkinton Hillers team. Warriors end Eagles girls tennis season with 3-2 first-round state tourney win.

The Sharon High School varsity girls tennis team swept doubles, but Foxborough swept singles to win 3-2, in a 2011 MIAA Girls Tennis South Division 2 first-round match Saturday. The road loss ended the Eagles' season. Sharon finished 2011 at 8-6, and seeded 14th in the 20-team state tournament. Foxborough is the third seed. "We were the underdogs. It just happened that we couldn't pull it through," Sharon head coach Diane Micheroni said. "But, it was close. A well-played match. And, good luck to Foxborough. They deserve it. They played well." Foxborough will welcome 11-seed Duxbury for Monday's quarterfinal, at 3:30 p.m., Warriors head coach Peter Prinos said. Monday's winner goes to the semi-finals, at Taunton High School. The other …

Foxborough defeated King Philip 3-2 to win the school’s first ever Hockomock League title.

They’ve beaten the competition all season long and this day was no different. All season long, the Foxboro girls’ tennis team has made a name for themselves as a threat to be reckoned with. In the inaugural Hockomock Cup for girls’ tennis, the Warriors defeated King Philip 3-2 to win the school’s first ever Hockomock League title. As they have all season long, Alana Prinos, Hallie Young, and Emma Prinos all won their matches in straight sets. Never looking challenged and in control for the entire match, Alana Prinos defeated KP’s Lauren Trudeau 6-0, 6-1 to remain undefeated this year. In the 2nd singles match, Foxboro’s Hallie Young defeated KP’s Casey Burks 6-2, 6-3.  In the 2nd set, Burkes was able to get the match to 4-3 but Young was …
