It's All in the Family at Sal and Mal's in Foxborough

Sal and Mal's has been a true family enterprise in Foxborough for 12 years.

Since opening 12 years ago in Foxborough, Sal and Mal’s Pizza has defined the meaning of a true family business. Owner and operator Chris Politsopoulos said he has been in the pizza business for over 31 years. He said he runs Sal and Mal’s with his wife, Linda and his sons, Paul and Nicholas. “It’s literally a family operated business,” he said. “One thing me and my wife have always had is the quality to make sure the customers are always happy.” Politsopoulos said he got his start in the business while he was going to school in Manhattan, N.Y. “I started working in a pizza place in New York back in the 80s,” he said. "New York supposedly has the best pizza, and basically I learned the business from the true sources in how to make a New …

Local Restaurant Owner Loves the Thrill of Business at The Common's

Alfred Mazeiko, owner of The Common's Neighborhood Eatery on Central Street, says seeing the look on a customer's face after a good meal is the most satisfying part of his day.

Brockton native Alfred Mazeiko has been in the restaurant business for a long time but it was his father’s nearly 30 years of employment in Foxborough that gave him the inspiration to buy The Common’s Neighborhood Eatery on Central Street in 2002. “When we knew this place was for sale we knew we had to jump on it,” he said. The original owners started the Common’s eatery in 1992. Since Mazeiko took over, he’s been developing relationships with customers who frequent the downtown. “The regulars come in here and it’s almost like them coming into their kitchen,” he said. … “I will say we do bend over backwards for people as far as people want certain things and certain diets. If something’s not on the menu as a special we’ll do it for people…

What Foxborough Business Were You Sad to See Close in 2012?

In today’s economy, businesses come and go in Foxborough all the time. Tell us which ones you were sad to see go in the comments section below.

With the opening of Trader Joe’s at Patriot Place and the announcement of Jake n Joes and Capriotti's Sandwich Shop coming to Foxborough, 2012 was certainly a busy year for businesses in town. But not all the changes in the Foxborough business landscape this year were positive as several shops and restaurants closed their doors for good or for new locations. Over this past year, Foxborough said goodbye to restaurants like Piccadilly Pub, Main Street shops like Mustard Seeds Antiques and function halls like Christina’s, which has since reopened as Demetri’s. In addition, the economy has changed the business plan for at least one local venue as Showcase Live at Patriot Place announced this year it will no longer book musical acts in …

Christina's for sure. The food was awesome, the atmosphere was warm, and the staff was always accomodating. Demetris will never be able to replace that. Chris and Majorie were the pulse that made it happen, and that can not be replicated. I also miss Stephen as the owner of Mandarian Chef on Mechanic Street. While the restaurant is still there, Stephen's warm smile, greeting, and willingness to …   more ›

According to the annual Job Preparedness Indicator from CareerAdvisoryBoard.org, more than half (56 percent) of job seekers are confident they know what qualifications are required for …
