Second Half Surge Sparks Foxborough Comeback Over Walpole in MIAA State Tourney Opener

The Warriors outscored the Rebels 5-2 in the second half enroute to an 8-7 preliminary round win in the MIAA D2 East Sectional State Tournament.

WALPOLE - The Foxborough High School boys' lacrosse team lived up to its "Warriors" nickname Tuesday in a gritty comeback victory over Walpole to open MIAA state tournament play. Trailing 5-3 at halftime, Foxborough rallied around the motivational – and spirited - words of head coach Matt Noone during the intermission to dominate the final 24 minutes enroute to an 8-7 win over the Rebels in a preliminary round game of the MIAA D2 East Sectional State Tournament. Foxborough was led offensively by Tyler Ames’ second-half hat trick and Kyle Sperzel’s hat trick. Zach Atanasoff added Foxborough’s other two goals to cap the Warriors’ scoring. Foxborough Girls’ Basketball Steamrolls Lunenburg; Readies for Hopkinton in Warrior Classic Title Game

Foxborough beat Lunenburg, 85-37 Monday to advance to Tuesday’s Warrior Classic championship game against Hopkinton. Tip-off is 6:30 p.m. at Foxborough High School.

Foxborough High School girls’ basketball coach Lisa Downs said when her team is firing on all cylinders they are “pretty fantastic to watch.” That was true Monday night. The Warriors (14-5) turned in a complete game Monday, cruising past visiting Lunenburg, 85-37 in the opening round of the Warrior Classic tournament. “[We] came out executing and played smart defense,” Downs said. “Our press was working much better [Monday] then it had been last week. … Offense rotated the ball in and out and our shot selection was much better.” It is rare that a high school basketball team can put a game away in the second quarter, but that’s exactly what the Warriors did when they outscored Lunenburg, 29-5 in the second frame to take a 48-18 lead into …

FHS Wrestling Gain Victory Over Stoughton

The Warriors got wins in 10 of 14 matches to beat the Black Knights, 51-21.

At the end of the day, the score sheet will show a convincing win for the Foxborough wrestling team over Stoughton. What will not be there is how Stoughton made Foxborough earn the win with close scores and back and forth battles. Even with two forfeits, the Warriors (7-4) got past the Black Knights (2-5) 51-21. The Warriors took the first of their 10 match wins after Jamie Peccaro pinned Brad Allen at 1:24 of the first period in the 106 pound match after Peccarro was able to turn a bulldog into the opening pin of the meet. “He (Peccarro) looked good. He looked tough,” Foxborough head coach Jim Fraser said. In the 113-pound match, the Warriors' Jake Dorman and Stoughton's Steve Collins went the distance after neither man could get a …
