Foxborough Schools Ready to Support Students; Remember Boston Marathon Victims After Tragedy

All public schools will resume class Monday with a moment of silence for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, according to Foxborough Superintendent of Schools Debra Spinelli.

Monday is Foxborough's first day of school since last week’s deadly attacks on the Boston Marathon and Superintendent of Schools Debra Spinelli said staff is ready for the return of students who may have questions about the tragedy. “Faced with yet another incident of inexplicable violence that has taken the life of another young child and other innocent people, we know we will likely face more questions from our students,” Spinelli said. “All schools will have counselors on hand to talk with children who need support. It is important that we help students return to the comfort of their school routines.” Spinelli added there are resources available under the “Parent” section of the FPS website that offer tips on how to talk to children …

UPDATED: Foxborough Public Schools Closed on Friday

Foxborough Public Schools will be closed because of approaching blizzard.

UPDATED at 7:02 p.m. -- Superintendent Debra Spinelli has decided to cancel school on Friday. ORIGINAL STORY -- While many schools across the region have closed in advance of Friday’s snowstorm, Foxborough Public Schools will open for a half day, according to Foxborough Superintendent of Schools Debra Spinelli. “Foxborough Public Schools will be closing early Friday, Feb. 8th due to the incoming snowstorm,” Spinelli said. “Based on current weather projections, light snowfall during the day is expected to amount to about an inch by 2 p.m. with heavier accumulations beginning around 2 p.m. Our early dismissal will help to ensure safe travel home before the snow picks up.” Dismissal times for each school is as follows: Spinelli added that …

Spinelli: Tragedies Like the Shooting in Newtown ‘Frighten Us the Most’

The Foxborough School Committee held a moment of silence prior to Monday’s meeting for the 26 victims of the Newtown, Conn. shooting.

Foxborough Schools Superintendent Debra Spinelli told the school committee that everything “ran smoothly” Monday as children and staff were back in schools following last Friday’s tragic incident at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. “We want you to know everything went smoothly at our schools [Monday],” Spinelli said. “We are taking our cues from children in terms of answering their questions or discussing the recent events. … Students were engaging in their normal learning activities and happy to be at school. … Staff reassured students that school is a safe place and that they were there to listen to them. Four iPads to be Donated to Mystery Classroom in Foxborough Public Schools

Foxborough Schools Superintendent announced at Monday's School Committee meeting that one classroom in the Foxborough School District will be receiving four iPads as a gift from a former employee.

When school begins in Foxborough on Tuesday, Sept. 4, one classroom in the district will be receiving four iPads as a generous gift from a former employee. “This donation is really quite wonderful,” said Foxborough Schools Superintendent Debra Spinelli. “We had a staff member who recently retired. Foxborough Public Schools to Open After Labor Day

Foxborough's first day of school for the 2012-2013 calendar year is Tuesday, Sept. 4.

With the calendar turning to August Wednesday there's less than five weeks of summer before Foxborough students, teachers and faculty begin another school year. The first day of school for students in Foxborough is Tuesday, Sept. 4, after Labor Day. Teachers and administration return on Aug. 28.
