Foxborough football will be in the same division as Hockomock League rivals Canton and Sharon next season.
After hearing appeals from 10 high schools, the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Football Committee has completed its realignment of the high school football divisions for next season's new playoff format. According to the Boston Herald, appeals from Arlington Catholic, Pope John, Matignon, Boston Latin, Diman, Mashpee and Maynard were approvedby the MIAA football committee. With the divisions complete, Foxborough finds itself in the newly formed Division 4 South, which is comprised of 16 teams. One of those teams is a familiar foe to Foxborough - Canton. Sharon tried to move from Division 3 Southeast to Division 4 South but their appeal was denied. Here's a complete breakdown of Division 4 South: Here's a …

A recap of Thanksgiving football action in the Hockomock League.
If anything, Thanksgiving once again proved how exciting and unpredictable the Hockomock League can be. The League's two playoff teams both lost; Stoughton and Mansfield's long Thanksgiving win streaks were snapped, while Oliver Ames extended its streak; the King Philip/Franklin and Stoughton/Canton games came down to the wire, with the KP/Franklin game being decided in the final seconds, and with Stoughton/Canton being decided in overtime, and Foxborough orchestrated a second-half comeback vs. Mansfield. The other games were blowouts. Thanksgiving marked the end of the season for nine of the teams in the league, but Mansfield (Division 2) and Sharon (Division 3) will head to the postseason, playing in a semifinal game Tuesday night, …

Foxborough-Mansfield is a chance to be part of Thanksgiving Day history.
Besides being known as one of the best Thanksgiving Day football rivalries in the state, the Foxborough-Mansfield game is about becoming part of town's history. The players in this year's game will go on to be successful in football or other sports at the collegiate level. They'll go on to be successful in their careers, maybe opening up their own businesses in Foxborough or Mansfield or elsewhere. But if you do something to standout this morning, you'll be part of the history of the rivalry. For at least two or three hours every Thanksgiving, you'll mostly be remembered for what you did for either Foxborough or Mansfield. The numbers of people in that category are in the thousands by now. For the 75th anniversary game in 2005, editor Jeff…

Both the Foxborough and Mansfield High School football teams will be looking for their eighth win of the season Thursday morning in Mansfield.
The tradition is one of the oldest and the rivalry is one of the best in the state – Foxborough vs. Mansfield. The annual Thanksgiving Day football game between the two schools has a long history fueled by community pride and local bragging rights within the Hockomock League. This season, Mansfield won the Kelley-Rex Division while Foxborough missed out on a chance of winning a share of the Davenport Division with a frustrating, 14-7 loss to Sharon on Nov. 10. Despite the Hockomock League division races already decided there's still the matter of local bragging rights on the line when the Warriors travel to Mansfield's Alumni Field for Thursday's 10 a.m. game on Thanksgiving Day. Both teams will take the field with 7-3 records overall. …

A recap of Week 8 football action in the Hockomock League.
While one of the Hockomock League's divisions has a somewhat clear playoff picture, the other is chaotic and wide-open, of course setting up what should be a thrilling final three weeks of the season. After week 8, Sharon, Stoughton and Foxborough have the most realistic path to a Davenport Division (small schools) title and with it a Division 3 playoff berth. The division title is based on a team's four-game division record at season's end. At 2-0 in division play, Sharon is in the driver's seat and Stoughton and Foxborough, both at 2-1, are right behind. Sharon has a head to head win over Stoughton and Stoughton has a head to head win over Foxborough. Sharon and Foxborough play Nov. 10. With Mansfield and Franklin both losing in week 8…

A recap of Week 7 football action in the Hockomock League.
Heading into week 7, it was fair to say King Philip and Stoughton, both undefeated, were the favorites in the Hockomock League's Kelly-Rex and Davenport Divisions, respectively. But after a crazy Saturday of Hockomock League football, filled with upsets and shootouts, new favorites have emerged. Canton had a week 7 bye, but all the other teams had division games, which meant all games had direct playoff implications. The division winners from the Davenport and Kelly-Rex advance to the postseason. In the Davenport, Stoughton fell at Sharon, 16-14, after Sean Asnes scored the game-winning touchdown with 11 seconds left. The win put Sharon in the Davenport driver's seat with a perfect 2-0 record. Stoughton is 1-1. Foxborough, meanwhile …
