The Warriors beat Mansfield, 13-7 Tuesday.
MANSFIELD – On a cold and windy day that would make one question if this really was the spring sports season, the Foxborough High School girls' lacrosse team (1-0, 1-0) defeated Mansfield, 13-7 on the road in Tuesday's season opener. A quick goal from FHS Katie Notarangelo less than 30 seconds into the match along with two more Warriors' goals put Mansfield behind 3-0 less than two minutes into the game. Goals from MHS players Jessica Buckley and Janet Maher cut the lead to 3-2. Later, a score from Lauren Beecher kept brought the Hornets back to within one at 4-3 and a striking distance with less than eight minutes left in the first half. Foxborough High School Athletic Director Caitlin Brown defines a student-athlete as someone who is dedicated, hardworking and passionate.
A student athlete who chooses to don Foxborough's Blue and Gold is often dedicated, hardworking and passionate about their sport, according to FHS Athletic Director Caitlin Brown. Brown says to be a Foxborough Warrior, student athletes are leaders both on their team and in the community. They exhibit sportsmanship and represent the town "very well." "They strive to be the best they can," Brown said. Developing these young leaders is a goal of Brown's moving forward as she settles into her first year as athletic director. "[Goal is] looking at athletics as part of the academic curriculum instead of a separate entity of it, Brown said. "I think as a former athlete myself, I think it taught me a lot about resiliency and dealing with setbacks…

The Foxborough High School girls’ basketball team struggled to score in the second half of a 40-34 season-ending loss to Holliston in the first round of the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional State Tournament Wednesday.
Trailing Holliston 32-30 to start the fourth quarter, the Foxborough High School girls’ basketball team needed an offensive surge to keep their season alive. It didn’t happen. The Warriors managed four points in the fourth quarter and finished with just 12 in the second half of a 40-34 season-ending loss to the Panthers in the first round of the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional State Tournament Wednesday. “The ball would just not fall for us [Wednesday],” said Foxborough head coach Lisa Downs. “I don’t know what our shooting percentage was but it was pretty darn low. We were taking quality shots … they just weren’t falling for us.” Foxborough strung together an onslaught of quality chances in the final seconds of the third quarter but could…

Stoughton swept Foxborough High School in boys' and girls' basketball Tuesday.
With the Foxborough girls' basketball team trailing Stoughton by one, 43-42, with time running out in Tuesday's Hockomock League Davenport Division contest at Foxborough High, Ashley Snyder was fouled and she hit both free throws to put the Warriors up by one, 44-43. Stoughton then called a timeout with 16 seconds remaining and on the ensuing Black Knights' possession, Mackenzie McGrath hit a short baseline jumper with her back to the Stoughton bench and just 1.5 seconds left on the clock, handing Foxborough a heartbreaking, 45-44 loss. What ended up as a back-and-forth game with a dramatic finish, started with Foxborough taking a 15-8 lead at the end of one. Stoughton then nearly pulled even with a strong second quarter, cutting the …
